I notice in your sig you are pairing an 6000cdt with a Border Patrol dac - how would you rate that combo? If you had to buy again, would you go in another direction for redbook playback?

The combo is perfect to my ears. I would buy both again in a heartbeat.

Reviving an old thread. The CDT6000.+ Denafrips Ares II (or paired with the Topping D90 MQA) sound better to me than my Sony XA-5400 ES. Not too shabby!

PERSONALLY... I would not get too hung-up on SPDIF cables as long as they are constructed well

I use Belden 1694A along with a few Retail Brands

RCA's are not 75 ohm and why you find BNC's used in $$ designs,
if I had a choice I'd use BNC's but I don't I decided on some BJC and a length long enough
not aggravate refections.

Can you elaborate more? I really like how CD´s sounds on the XA-5400 but I’ve been considering the CDT6000 AND the Ares II.

Great choice! I was a little skeptical in transports, but I needed a new system a while back and went with both the CDT>6000a...and wow...it definitely delivers music with more depth and detail when compared to my old all-in-one.

That was my perspective and experience. I was very skeptical of a transport beating out a decent CD player. It was a pleasant surprise, to say the least. I'm 65, so I'm betting I won't buy another drive. Mortality has its benefits?
