Samsung Galaxy S with Voodoo or Speedmod kernel and Voodoo sound app.
Gives full control over the Wolfson WM8995 audio-hub. Improved SNR, lower IMD, choice between NOS or 128x oversampling DAC, reclocking, direct access to chip's analog volume control and so on.
And besides, the Galaxy S has native(!) MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, FLAC, WMA, WAV, AMR, OGG, MIDI, ... support. Storage is microSD, so plenty of space for the FLACs

Iphones aren't bad either btw..
One of the problems with his lack of a return visit is that everyone who posted made a (logical) assumption that the op was asking how music sounded on a smartphone. However, it's certainly possible he wanted to know which smartphone sounded better making...you know...phone calls.
I'll toss in my 2c. I moved from a Blackberry to a Motorola Droid exactly 12 months ago, and I love it. I actually do most of my music listening through Pandora and some nice headphones. It sounds really, really nice.

I run my HTC Evo through a pair of Klipsch Image IEMs. Ive tested the same IEMs on my friends iPhone 4 with Apple lossless vs FLAC on my Evo. IME, the Evo is marginally better than the iPhone 4, but as always, YMMV. Im running Cyanogenmod 7, which is basically vanilla Android 2.3. The included music player software is very good. Its much better than any Ive seen on factory Android ROMs.
