I’m not blasting anything as I can turn the mids, highs and lows up or down but yes I have the RS ll mids and tweeters going to the highs on the K-231
and I reversed the wires on the HF as directed by Mark from sublime acoustics and one thing I can tell you is they already sound way better than the original amp eating crossovers to me!!I’m not blasting anything as I can turn the mids, highs and lows up or down but yes I have the RS ll mids and tweeters going to the highs on the k-231
It can get expensive if you want to experiment with a bunch of different frequencies and slopes.$12 a module isn’t that expensive to me.
I know but I’m not running them like this I’m eventually going to tri amp them and Mark is going to work out all of the frequencies for me.I think the mids and highs are pretty good the way they are but the lows aren’t strong enough because I hooked up three identical amps and there wasn’t much bass so then I went to two amps and a subwoofer and they came alive and sounded fantastic. It can get expensive if you want to experiment with a bunch of different frequencies and slopes.
Hey, whatever works. I do note that they charge $35/module for custom values, but I assume you're aware of that.I know but I’m not running them like this I’m eventually going to tri amp them and Mark is going to work out all of the frequencies for me
I chose this one because it was perfect for my Paradigm founder 40b’s.I didn’t want something big and bulky and I didn’t want a cheap one or an overly expensive one for my budget and those modules are easy to change in and out.I might end up getting a different one for the RS ll’s though as they’re a 4 way speaker and the K-231 is 3 way or maybe I need two K-231’s?Hey, whatever works. Just out of curiosity, why did you choose this crossover over a more conventional model with user-adjustable settings?
RS-II are a 5 way speaker. You do need two K-231 if you're going to keep them working as designed.I might end up getting a different one for the RS ll’s though as they’re a 4 way speaker and the K-231 is 3 way or maybe I need two K-231’s?
Can you explain the 5 way?I’m only seeing 4 crossover frequencies on the specs?RS-II are a 5 way speaker. You do need two K-231 if you're going to keep them working as designed.
I assume you are still running the internal passive crossover at least to separate the mids and EMITs. I wouldn't run the EMITs down to 1.6KHz.and the RS ll’s mids and tweeters connected to the highs
Here are the different frequencies they can provideI think we're establishing a pattern of diminishing returns for going beyond 3 way. Especially since these were never designed for multiway amplification, replacing all the built-in crossovers with active crossovers is going to require some experimentation, no matter how much the Sublime Acoustics engineer analyzes them.
What you might consider doing is modeling them with an inexpensive DSP (get two if you truly want a 5 way system) to work out the crossover points and slopes, then have Sublime reproduce those values. However it's unclear if the K-231 supports any slopes other than 12dB and 24dB/octave.

I’m not running them at all now though I did remove the passive crossover’s and connect everything in a few different configurations and played a track on very low volume to satisfy my curiosity.I assume you are still running the internal passive crossover at least to separate the mids and EMITs. I wouldn't run the EMITs down to 1.6KHz.
Right, I was thinking, based on the situation, that you'd probably need custom settings. Especially since there's no mention of slope, and it wouldn't surprise me if Infinity originally used different slopes with different sections of the Xover. Here are the different frequencies they can provide
I run unmodified RS-II, and my amps are happy as clams.original amp eating crossovers
I don’t have any 4 ohm amps and I was thinking about selling these RS-II’s until nowI run unmodified RS-II, and my amps are happy as clams.
There are no amp eating speakers, just inadequate amplifiers.
Have you considered using a DSP unit that has active crossover features? They can more than just a crossover does....gain, PEQ, GEQ, delay, phase, etc.I've actually been looking at those active crossovers for a future speaker project. Thinking about using one instead of having to design and build a passive crossover.
I don’t know anything about those and all of my amplifiers are vintage?what does DSP stand for?Have you considered using a DSP unit that has active crossover features? They can more than just a crossover does.
