I'm gonna jump the gun and nominate this bad boy for airframe of the decade ... even if it hasn't flown any combat miles yet. The XQ-58A Valkyrie will do 50K height for 50 hours, can refuel in flight, fully autonomous flight if necessary, and also as a bonus, deliver a 3K smart load of death ... all from the comfort of your friendly neighborhood USAF drone control station.

PS ... I used to set my clock with overflights of WartHogs on weekend milk runs between Battle Creek and Grayling. That was cool, having a wing of them things flying low overhead. Not so much anymore ...

Like you, I worked around A LOT of different aircraft....When I was at the test center I seen them all. That aircraft is still my all time fave....followed closely by the A-10!

We had contractor pilots down at Eglin AFB .. Flying F86's that would tow big plywood target darts for our Eagles to shoot at with there vulcan cannons.

I was fortunate to see the SR-71 at the Point Mugu Air Show around '81-'82. It was incredible. It came "idling by" at 600 mph, then they kicked on the afterburners, went vertical and disappeared.

Used to work for Cubic and Applied Data; did the ACMI/Red Flag installs there at Nellis on many, many, many trips.

F-5 was a cool fighter.
