Got sniped

No, the 30 second extension is not a good idea. That's how egghead lost to EBay. Long time ago, there were EBay, egghead and uBid. Both Egghead and uBid had auto time extension while EBay don't have. Guess what happened? Buyer avoid Egghead and uBid in favor of EBay because buyer feel snipping can get a better deal.

That's how EBay beat the all.

The 30 second extension is actually a really good idea,,,,,,,, imagine how much more money ebay could make in fees over all these years, and it allows sellers to get the last drop.

I never snipe per se, rather I place a bid once I am absolutely positive I want the item, then place a proxy bid for the MOST I am willing to pay. This way I never pay more than I want to pay and often times pay a lot less than I was willing to pay,,,,,, and I don't have to watch the end of the auction at weird hours.

Your opinion,,,,, ok

But if I sell space on the internet for selling (ebay) and I get a commission on the total (ebay) then the higher the bids the more I make.

If I sell on the internet (seller) the more bids,,,,,,,,, well you know.

Essentially the bid goes until no buyer is willing to go higher,,,,,,, like a real auction.

This eliminates fast deals as a buyer in some cases probably, but the price of the product is set by supply and demand.

Buyers flocked to ebay due to marketing, same as sellers. I remember when they were all getting started and ebay was everywhere with everything,,,,, and that's why ubid and egghead are no more.

Marketing,,,,,,,,

Unless the market has more buyers than sellers. In which case you want to make the buyers happy because they'll keep coming back. If it's a bunch of sellers trying to sell to only a few buyers, then no one does any business. You have to keep the buyers happy and returning to keep the churn going.

all the time.
i did pickup a piece of good advice from somebody though: figure out how much that thing is worth to you, put a max bid and walk away if you are beaten. been doing that ever since. cut down on the times i've regretted losing something on a last minute bid.

In ether scenario supply and demand set the market, with or without a bid extension timer.

If you really want an item, the only sensible thing to do is bid at the last second. Bidding early just jacks up the price and causes auction fever and other undesirables.
Yep....This is what I do...Know your Max Price other wise you will see a Bidding war and I am not into this.
