Is humanity doomed?

"Book Of Rules"
(originally by The Heptones)

Isn't it strange how princesses and kings
Can clown their capers in sawdust rings, just like
Poor people like you and me
Will be builders for eternity
Each is given a bag of tools
Shapeless lives and a book of rules

Each must make his life as flowing ink
Tumbling back on a stepping stone, just like
Poor people like you and me
Will be builders for eternity
Each is given a bag of tools
Shapeless lives and a book of rules

Pow wa pow pow, pow wa pa pa pow pow
Wa pa pa pow pow, wa pow pa pow pow pow

Look where the rain is fallen from the sky
I know the sun will be only missing for awhile
And I say small people like you and me
Will be builders for eternity
Each is given a bag of tools
Shapeless lives and a book of rules

Pow wa pow pow, pow wa pa pa pow pow
Wa pa pa pow pow, wa pow pa pow pow pow

And I say small people like you and me
Will be builders for eternity
Each is given a bag of tools
Shapeless lives and a book of rules

It took over 2 million years of human prehistory and history for the world's population to reach 1 billion, and only 200 years more to reach 7 billion. The world population has experienced continuous growth following the Great Famine of 1315–1317 and the end of the Black Death in 1350, when it was near 370 million. ---Wikipedia

Approximately 7 billion humans have already lived and died.

To give perspective to the pessimist and screamers, world population increases by about 80 million a year. The pandemic has claimed just over 1M. Humanity is doing just fine.

Doomed? Nope, not for as long as people has lust in their heart and act accordingly.
Humanity, is it doomed... Where it came from will have everything to say about where it is going and personally, I just can't remove the question from the context of the individual... among the things in life that have taken on the meaning of something that matters none of it rises above the need of the individual to have a reason for being, why am I here... the basic question about human destiny, being doomed, is rooted in the individual, not the collective. So we have seventy or so years... but who knows, until they 'disprove' eternity we can be comforted with the thought that a lot goes on in eternity... so one never knows.

Covid does have a chance at modifying our population considerably. In the U.S. it took the first three months to lose our first 1 million people, but we, in the last month, have lost a million. If we could get the mosquito to carry the virus those numbers would take a massive increase.

All this talk about the end of the Earth is off the subject of this thread. Humanity will be long gone by the time that destruction of the Earth is even close to being close. Covid won't do it; so it will have to be something way more destructive. Covid is just the head of the pimple. It is the underlying infection that will be what we have to watch. A large asteroid will have a pretty good chance.

According to what I see, it's a quarter million dead in the USA so far.

You want the death rate to accelerate ? What's up with that ?
