Is This a Sylvania "BadBoy" 6SN7?

Haven't listened to it yet -- but this does look like it may be a 1950s Sylvania "BadBoy" 6SN7. I'm not particularly well-versed in 6SN7s, however. Is my guess correct?

this is what a bad boy is:
1)3 hole black T plates
2)Bottom getter flashing 1/3 way up the tube
3)shinny silver top and bottom rectangular mica. The top mica has three small triangular edges bent down on each side.
4)Copper grid posts
5) Date code of 2xx(or possibly 1xx or 3xx) were 1, 2 or 3 represent 1951, 1952 or 1953 and xx represents the week.
6)Full black bottom base with Sylvania or JAN-CHS-6SN7GT in green letters

The answer is 'no'.

Not that one. Easily identified by the three hole plates as stated by Vinylisfinal. Yours has two holes in each plate.

Probably true. But it still would have been nice to have one. Brent Jessee does state that there is no difference between the 2-hole and 3-hole varieties ('cept for the extra hole!), and I tend to go with what he says. I guess that's further corroboration of your "signifies nothing really" statement!

This tube does appear to have been relabeled by "Shield" (whoever they were) in the 1960s. Must have been old stock that they found somewhere and wiped/relabeled.

The main difference is the HYPE. You will get more money from Rubes at the bay site who buy into the bogus Bad Boy hype.

Shield Brand. Olson Electronics, Akron, Ohio. They sold lots of surplus and over runs. But that is not to say that anything is wrong with the tube. Could be Sylvania...

I agree the whole "bad boy" thing is just plain silly. For starters I much prefer the Sylvania VT-231, which you can usually get for less than the "bad boy" due to the hype tax.

The octagon is not unique to RCA. Tung-Sol and Sylvania also used it.

Sylvania dropped it pretty quick, from what I've seen. Tung-Sol's octagons are easy to spot, they have outside lines of varying thickness and (usually) a short vertical line above the octagon. RCA's are invariably VERY crisp.
