1977 Ibanez Musician MC-100. 24 fret neck through.


Pic of a few things from the past(wish I still had a few of these.)

Just last week the Les Paul to the left of my Ibanez in the above picture came back home. I'd been regretting selling it the past couple of years now and made a deal with my buddy to get it back. It's a mid/late 90's Orville Les Paul standard. These are the only Japanese made guitars w/ Gibsons blessing. One piece mahogany neck, one piece mahogany body and two piece maple top. A fine, fine axe indeed:thmbsp:

I still have the three guitars on the right(r-l '76 Alverez Yari DY-74, Kasuga folk size imported for Martin, 70's Electra Avenger strat copy w/ Lace Sensors) the Ibanez in the middle, the Orville next to it and the 70's Electra jazz bass copy on the left

Here are some other angles. The shot of the three guitars and amps is from the day the BF Twin Reverb, BF Super Reverb and Tweed Bassman tracks were recorded for the Tom Wheeler book 'The Soul Of Tone'. I hadn't "aged" the tweed on my amp at that point and it was awfully light, which just didn't sit well with me anymore.

1950 Harmony Master...Totaly refinished by me.....top part of the bridge was removed and a new one was fabricated using a pushrod from an old chevy smallblock...cut and made 'D'shaped to sit on the bottom half of the bridge... slots ground into it for the strings to sit in. The NUT is an actual piece of bone..taken from one of my dogs bones..(don't tell him...he still dont know!...)ground to size then slotted for the strings to rest. the frets were hand 'dressed' to eliminate any buzzes...action is great all the way up the neck...[/QUOTE]

Did your Harmony have stripes in the stain to make it look like fake tiger striped Maple? I have one that looks a lot like that (other thna the fact that I haven't finished it).

I wish! The only thing of mine in that photo is the Tweed Bassman. The rest is owned by Greg Koch, who did the audio tracks for the Vintage Amps CD that came with the book. The LP is one of the "authentic" models, made to spec from an original piece. The Tele is a '52 RI but the Strat is a real '63.

Audiophile's "Family"

I do not play these much [I'm not very good!] I keep them well maintained and display them in my listening room. So far my "family" consists of a 1968 Gibson SG Standard, 1968 Hagstrom Viking, 2002 Gibson Custom Shop Tony Iommi Signature, as well as a 2005 Les Paul Studio. Nice to see that I am not alone being a collector/ audiophile

Did your Harmony have stripes in the stain to make it look like fake tiger striped Maple?

No...not reely a stain..but just a kind of paint... it came off fairly easly lots of "elbow grease" though. It looked like a 'bullhead'...black with a yellow belly..

Sanding for about two -three days...especially the fingerboard...it was sanded across the grain from the factory and that sucked... so I used different grit sandpapers and sanded it smooth finishing with 400 grit for a smooth feel. and the fingerboard is maple!

The only thing I hated to do was to put the finish on it ...It sounded soooo sweet wheen it was bare wood...but the oils from my fingers were staining the bare wood that I had to seal it somehow.. So I used Clear urethane spray from ACE hardware...just one coat... It did loose quite a bit of ring.. but still sounds reely good with new strings.

Naw, just a GFS hot rail. I use that git for slide mostly and the combo of the hot rail and the neck SCN in series is really nice.

Here is my 2001 Seagull Artist Flame Maple CW.

The LG replaced this Godin SDxt.

I purchased all of these used on the local Craig's List. I liked the SDxt a lot, but the shorter scale, and wider fingerboard radius of the LG are easier for me to play now. I was just diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis, which made the index finger on my left hand stiff and swolen. The meds I now take have reduced the swelling, but the damage to the finger joints don't allow it to bend much. It sucks getting old...

I haven't perused this thread in awhile, and while I appreciate all of the the guitars on this thread, yours apeal to me because I play an SG+ tobacco burst that my loving wife gave to me for xmas last year. Also, Godin makes excellent guitars that are in my price range! I absolutely love the looks of that LG - how does it play/sound? I am mostly familiar with Seymour Duncan pickups (SSL2 and JB jr.). What kind of humbuckers are in the LG? Or are they big single coils?

BTW, I can empathize about the artheritis - I have it in my left hand (old injury, broken bone, never healed) so I can't play more that 30 min - 1hr. Of course, I am no good, so it is only for my own enjoyment anyway!
