lets see your ride !

I had a 242, but not a GT. Bought new in '82, got delivery at factory and drove around Sweden, Finland and up to Hammerfest. Good times! Ultimately stumbled onto some GT wheels for mine.

'82 first year for GT? Non-turbo, right?

Nice Vette, for the life of me I could never understand why Chevy never put an LS-6 in the flagship Corvette and yet the Chevelle got it. I drove a 70 LS-6 Chevelle M-22 4 speed that I was thinking of buying in about 1981. Damn that thing was a beast.:eek2:

I'm no Corvette expert but I always thought there was an LS6 Corvette though not the highest compression LS6 motor ever made: https://www.corvettelegends.com/1971-corvette-ls6-454/

Nice. We've always bought our cars here in the states, but I know that at least one of our cars was a TDS car like yours. Was a 1984 245GL wagon. When I visited the local dealer to have some keys cut for it, their VADIS program couldn't bring the VIN number up. Just said "US model". No information about trim level, paint and interior colors, or key codes. We wound up taking the key I had with me, inserting it into the manual key cutter, then reading the cut on the key, finally cross-referencing it in the code book they had.

GT was 1978-80. Yup, had the B21F here in North America. The rest of the world got a B23E 2.3 liter engine that produced 140 hp, instead of the 111 hp DIN that the B21F did. My 242 is a Turbo model, as was the one in my avatar (that one did have pretty much everthing, except for the interior and the taillamps, for it to be a turbocharged version of a GT, though). Both are/were 1982 models. Current car is a May 1982 build, previous car was a September 1981 build. The earlier one was a rare version when I got it. Manual windows, mirrors, and door locks, like a 242DL, but, had a velour interior, the turbo/GLT trim, black bumpers, front spoiler, 6-panel tails, instead of the 5-panel tails, and the upgraded suspension parts, along with the 15" "Virgo" alloy rims.

Rear view of the previous 1982 I had... Spoiler was a Volvo accessory, made by Zender. Taillamps shown are the 6-panel Cibie units that most of the upper trim level cars got, until 1984, when the DL models received them as well. Car also had power mirrors added to it at that time and the velour interior was swapped out with a tan leather interior from my original 1982 242 Turbo that had been totaled in late 2002. Wagon shown in the background was also a Turbo model, but a 1983 with the automatic - I did eventually convert that car over to a manual transmission, btw.

My dream car for many years was a BMW M3. When I finally was in a spot to start looking, I was disheartened as how large it was. They recommended the M2 and I've been sold ever since. C6 is for some V8 noisy fun...

And the daily is an X2. Love this little thing. Dinan chipped but otherwise, it gets my new home improvement goodies home...
