I got a replacement faceplate for my 7T but no instructions how to remove the power light "ring" from the old one to move to the new one. Can someone give me some pointers? Thx!

I'm the author of those "ultimate" threads mentioned above. Unfortunately I have never had to replace the pilot light bezel (or jewel) on any of my preamps. I understand some replacements come without it, and you would need to transfer the existing bezel to the new faceplate. I would image these are either screwed in or pressed on the faceplate. Good luck with yours!

@thxdave I got it here. He's showing it to be sold out at the moment, but you can message the seller. He thought mine was lost in transit and he said he had another one he'd ship out if mine didn't start tracking. It's a *very* nice reproduction.

Did you ever get your faceplate? How did you make out with the lamp and bezel issue? I just got my 7t yesterday and the faceplate is a bit rough. I sent another inquiry to the eBay guy asking when he will have more but no reply yet.

I received the faceplate before I posted the above. I haven’t had time to mess with it, and I still have no idea how to remove the bezel. The original on mine is very nice but it has someone’s ssn engraved on it. It’s barely noticeable, especially from 4+ feet, but I’m ocd. When I get time and if I figure out the bezel, if you’re at all interested in the original one I can let you know and see if we can work something out. Attached are pics of the original plate.

All things considered, mine doesn't look THAT bad ;-) Mine has some random "swirlies", scratches and dinged corners on the face but, like you said, 4+ feet away and all that disappears. Someone did inscribe their SSN on the bottom plate so I'm considering having the top and bottom covers powdercoated. I guess I'll wait for a reply from the eBay guy. BTW, is your faceplate engraved/stamped? I was surprised that mine was.

When you said rough, I was picturing dented and scratched up rough! Haha! My original faceplate is engraved, the repro is printed. I *wish* my original had the ssn engraved on the bottom or even the top plate where it wouldn’t be visible. Honestly, I don’t even know why I bought the 7T. I have it hooked up to a 2285b and using it for extra inputs with an A/B switch to swap between preamps. Really didn’t need it, just saw it and wanted it. Ugh.
