My local PBS channel ran a documentary on the Bee Gee’s recently. It was preceded by a concert from the 90’s. Both shows back to back were probably 3hrs long. The concert was “ One Night Only” filmed in 1997 in Las Vegas. They started with “You Should Be Dancin” and Barry’s falsetto sounded a little weak and scratchy, but that was only for a line or two. He brought it in line shortly. They sounded really good and played every hit song and a few others. Understand, I liked the Bee Gee’s, before the Saturday Night Fever stuff. I was not a big fan of any disco music and SNF was top of that list. I was aware that they wrote some songs, but didn’t realize just how prolific they were.
The documentary was called “ Bee Gees: In Our Own Time” It was filmed some time in the early 200’s after Maurice’s death. Barry and Robin told the stories and covered their early lives and later. I came away with a new respect for their music and impression of them a s a group. I learned how Barry started singing falsetto.They talked about their youngest brother Andy and his death. They even did a small tribute to him in the concert. When I was a teenager, a good friend’s sister really liked him. I wanted hair like his. I ended up with hair like Peter Noone- bucket head helmet hair that did everything except what you were trying to make it do. They all had great hair, well maybe not Maurice, but was nice before he started balding.
I ordered a BeeGees greatest hits album the next day. My wife and I have listened to it quite a bit lately. Some of those songs kind of stick in your head. In a good way, not like Boy George or Wham songs.

seeing the Ronette's in the NY hotel room, hearing Ronnie Spector talking about taking them to Harlem and her sister dating George, the 2 blokes who went to Liverpool, got deported, and the later connection to John, a few Scorsese moments, etc.
