Great review, my congratulation to Mcintosh. One queustion, does the remote control of the C52 works also for the C50?

Yes, but it will not direct access to inputs like your C50 remote. The new preamps use the new remote that scans inputs up or down. All of the previous preamps have a fixed set of inputs, limited to what is on the remote. The new models scan as every input may be used and named.

I have C500C/P/T. I am considering buying a C52. How much sound quality will I lose, if any?? I have a MT10 and use the phono in the C500. Looking to simplify, consolidated my system, lots of moving parts here, basically switching DACs, want to move back into McIntosh digital. C52 DAC or D150 along with MCT450.

Is C52 DAC better or same as D150 with respect to sound quality?

MCT450/D150 and keep C500? C52 with internal DAC is more cost effective when consider selling C500 and internal DAC means one less interconnect, one less power cord.

I appreciate the concept of the simplified system. That's part of why I went with the C2500 over a C500.

The C52 has provisions for the MCT450's SACD capabilites with the DIN port. I'm gonna stick my neck out and put bets down that the D150's DAC is found across ALL of the McIntosh's digital line-up that supports DSD.

You'd need a C500P, C500T, D150, and MEN220 to exceed the capabilities of the C52. That's four boxes!

I'd like to hear from the experts and the hands on users too.
