New Threads ...Do They Get Seen By Members Or Just Die?

Most people probably don't spend every day on the forums. People take vacations, people have jobs, other things come up in life. It's entirely possible for someone to simply not see a thread before it is already on the 2nd or 3rd page, or even worse. I'm also not sure what you mean by a thread being "great". Many are just people who need help, or are curious about something. I like to help people when I see a question being asked that I have an answer to, but I don't dig 5 pages deep into every sub-forum looking for those threads.

i'm sorry i should have said good as it was in response to a specific post by the op.

unless you somehow cut down on the volume of posts there is no good way around missing something unless you check on a very regular basis.

my comments are directed solely at the op and his pushing of false info. hes making a problem out of something that doesnt exsist

Please prove what you are saying with full details of how you can post onto a sub forum and make sure that it does appear....post a thread called "turntable test " into the turntable forum and show us all that it will appear and if you can please explain fully how you have done it.

Now, let's lighten up here. What is with all the antagonism over this? Yes, new posts show up. Members have answered your question and they do not need to prove different - you can attempt to prove them wrong if you like but to what purpose?

You have been told in past threads, if you have a question about AK, ask one of the admins. No need to start a thread, question the helpful responses & badger the members.

I think there is a misunderstanding about what the New Posts button does. It gives each of us a list of the latest threads to be posted to since the last time we looked. Individually.

Any thread will appear in its respective subforum and will remain and persist as it scrolls down onto the back pages if no one replies. There are threads that are years old with one post. I find them all the time while searching.

If you are not seeing in the forum (not in the new posts list) a new thread you posted, it may be that you are looking at a cached page that is not updated. Try reloading the page.

The Gryphon, please bear with me as I try to explain this.

Let's say I post a new thread. Let's say in the Turntables sub forum. Since I have authored the post and hit "create new thread" button, the post is no longer "new" to me in the eyes of the system, but it is new to everyone else who clicks "new posts".

Now if I want to view my new thread, even though no member has replied, I would need to go to the Turntables sub forum, and it will show on my screen. The thread will be visible to everyone, including me.

Now, if I click on new posts, it will magically disappear because the system recognizes me as the OP.

I know at times it can seem as if we go unheard, rest assured we aren't. People see the headers, but may not have pertinent 411 they can add, may not have time to jump in, or many other reasons.

I disagree the posted thread does not appear on new posts until it has a second person who replies to it......test it yourself ...you will find I am right .

No - because you don't see a new post you posted because its not new to you.
You only see the thread when someone new replies.
Very basic logic ...

One is enough to prove you wrong. Someone has posted a thread that you had not seen, and the New Posts search is showing it to you, even though it has no replies. If you read the post, and click on "New Posts", again, it will disappear, FROM YOUR LIST. The site software uses cookies on each user's computer, to keep track of what posts a particular user has read. Everybody's New Posts search is unique to that user. Since you have access to only your account, you only see what the site software provides for you. Others see a slightly different list.

If I stay away for 24 hours, the New Posts list is 20 pages long, and contains 500 posts for me. If I mark all posts Read. and click New posts, immediately, there may be no new posts, or perhaps a small handful. If you click New Posts at the same time, you might get 20 pages, or 13, or 2 pages.

The long and the short of it is this. You seem to be butting heads with AK, its members, and the staff, and not the first thread in which this has occurred. This is not a productive road down which to travel.

I am closing this thread, and caution you that your repeated trolling may bring sanctions against your posting privileges, just like it would for anyone else.
