What did they do to it? They keep saying they modified it, but I only see a power supply upgrade.

Anyone know of a interior shot?

Well it has binding posts, and those aren't stock. That took a little bit of fab work. A beefier power supply is cheap, I bought a 6A when I bought my Lepai from Amazon. I think I paid about $30 shipped for both. $70 more doesn't seem to bad for a nice looking wooden case and the binding post mod.

the "Silk Purse" edition :-)

(and, no, I am not - really - knocking the little Lepai; I've got one myself and I was quite pleased with the way it sounded on the Duplexes)

I am curious about this one. I really like my little Topping T20 MKII, so why not get another T-amp. So I just ordered one. With the works, kinda like the pizza my wife and I had last night. I can't wait to hear how it sounds.

It matched my bamboo speakers which was enough for me :)
The sound is good although engaging the bass/treble control degrades the sound on mine. I control that from the preamp instead.

I was curious about the tone controls. I am sure I read an easy bypass tweak on these units someplace. I was thinking of using a preamp with it myself. Love the bamboo speakers!

What kind of speakers are those? They look great with the amp. Has anyone ever bypassed their volume control on one of these to control that from the pre-amp?

Thanks. The cabinets are made from bamboo chopping boards and the drivers are out of an old JVC 'executive' micro system. The guy who made them just wanted $20 for labour and was happy to see them go to someone who would use them. The drivers don't hit the high highs and the lowdown lows but they are great for late night listening. Far better than the Minimus 7s I think. Lots of clean detail. One day I might stick fancy fullrange drivers in them.

I control the Lepai from my Luxman TP-117 preamp and remote.

I just got my NSMT Modified Lepai amp and am burning it in at the present. So far I'm pretty impressed. I'll report back later after I think it has had a chance to thoroughly break in.
