On Impulse I ordered a Boyuu Reisong A10 EL34, class A. Any experience? Add your opinion on it.

I bought this amp and just got it delivered today.

Right off the jump, one of the smaller tubes had bent pins.

To make matters worse, it won't even power on. I believe this is the case because none of the tubes light up and I have left it on and running for about an hour now.

Any suggestions?

I had an issue with a similar model that turned out to be a bad power cord supplied with the unit. Swapped out the power cord for a known good one and it worked. Next step would be to make sure the fuse isn't blown or loose or not there at all. If your model is the same as I'm finding on the web, the fuse will be right above where the power cord plugs into the back.

@Old Guy8 Great thread, and fun read. Good to see you're enjoying this very attractive amp.

Just when I thought I was finished buying stuff, it looks like that itch will need scratching, as well as my bank account needing another drain.

I'm going to get into tubes. Lord.....
No! Stop! Don't do it! You'll just fall in love with them, find the itch only grows stronger, and then hate yourself for it. But, then, why should this be any different?

I think the amp and tubes are well broken in by now. Maybe 100 hours. Definitely responds to break in time.
Very satisfied with sound, with rolled in tubes. In my small room with ADS L470/2 speakers. For jazz and vocals.
I hear no hiss or hum. Great quality amp, for $$, so far.

Edit: Just noticed my CDP input has much more gain than my CCA streamed radio station.. Allows for much more headroom. So ADS speaker efficiency not so much of issue. Now dial is at 10 oclock for 60-70 dbs, at 5 feet.

Now my CCA streamer/ fiberoptic switcher/SMSL Sanskrit 6th dac must have much less gain. Takes much more turn of knob to get loud. Where I notice only 6 wpc.

The Chromecast Audio device has a volume control, even when using the digital mini-plug output. Make sure the CCA has volume set to max, otherwise it will sound quiet. I wish there was a way to lock the CCA to max volume, but there doesn't seem to be a setting to do that. It's very easy to accidentally have the CCA volume at a lower level and not realize it (having anything less than 100% volume also degrades the digital signal since it is lowering the volume in the digital domain).

I'll check my settings. Re familiarize myself with it. You're making sense. Must be reason.
That was it. Was only at 35%. Fixed. And, sounds better!

Read some good online reviews and Amazon reviews were all positive. Ordered a Boyuu Reisong A10 (Chi-fi) integrated off Amazon.
EL34b power tubes (2), auto-biasing.
6n2p (2)
5z4p (1) rectifier
Single end ultra linear
6 wpc claimed
4 and 8 ohm taps.
Two sets RCAs
With these optional upgrades, which come standard on Amazon version:
Upgraded transformer
Point to point wiring and one board
Tube cage
26.5 lbs.
They mailed me a schematic.
One year warranty. Exchange for new replacement if issues.

From online videos, the unit looks like quality build. View of inside looked neat. Are the capacitors, components of good quality? Time will tell.
I have no connection to China Hifi or Amazon.

I have two Rogue tube amps for two main systems. But this will be for bedroom setup with 90 db Canton Karat 200 or 92 db ADS L470 speakers. Near field setup. Guessing will be warmer than Rogues. My Rogues do not sound very tubey.

I've had good reliability with solid state China made SMSL dacs and BluDento Bluetooth receiver. So thought would give this a go.

So anyone have any experience with this unit?

What are your favorite front end and EL34 tubes in this or similar design amps?

I'll likely be rolling tubes to replace the Dawn Swallow el34 standard tubes.
I'll be playing mostly jazz, vocals and blues. No hard rock.
I’m thinking about purchasing this A-10 unit for a small room, but am very ignorant as to how to properly connect it to a turntable.
I’m a longtime record collector who’s only now getting interested in learning about audio gear. There’s so much information out there it’s confusing.

I bought one on Amazon for $360 after seeing Steve Guttenberg's review. I needed an inexpensive amp as my current amp broke (needs a total rebuild). I've been looking at a Line Magnetic but wasn't ready to take the plunge so bought the Reisong as a kind of placeholder. I'm using it with a pair of Klipsch RP-600M's which seem like a pretty good match. Out of the box the amp worked right away - no issues at all. It sounded a little veiled at first, but after about two weeks of break-in (I never turned it off) it sounds quite good! Bass is a little limited, but vocals, jazz, and even big band sound great. Lots of volume with the high sensitivity Klipsch's too. Seems like an amazing value. Even if I ultimately get the Line Magnetic I'll probably keep this as a headphone amp. I originally used the amp with the volume turned all the way up and used my Benchmark DAC as the volume control, but there was a small amount of hum, so now I use the Reisong as the volume control and the hum is no longer an issue. I also like the fact that the power cord is detachable. Maybe try a $250 power cord on my $360 amp! I am so pleased with this amp that I ordered a matched pair of Tungsol's from Amazon. Seems worth the upgrade. On the downside there are only one set of binding posts per impedance per channel so not easy to bi-wire. I'll probably modify the amp by removing the 4 ohm outputs and adding a second set of 8 ohm posts for bi-wiring. For this low price seems ripe for other DIY experimentation too!

Hi all,
I ordered one of these from Amazon on February 7 and received it March 20, better than expected considering the state of the world! It was easy to set up and gave me no trouble. I'm currently using it with an Audio Technica LP-120 Turntable and a pair of old 90s Sony Speakers. No idea what the sensitivity of these speakers is but no problems with volume. I ordered a pair of Tekton Mini Lore speakers at the same time as the amp but am still waiting on them. Can't wait to use them together. This system is replacing a pair of humble (but great sounding) Edifer powered speakers, so this is my first venture into setting up a nice-ish little system. Haha, I know it's a little crazy for a first system, but I'm a guitar player and am a sucker for the romance of tubes.

I'd guess I'm around 100 hours in on the stock tubes. I listen to a ride range of music that is fairly rock-centric - surf, rockabilly, classic rock, punk, indie, ambient, folk, etc. Overall the amp sounds good to my ears. I hear some distortion on a few records (usually modern reissues) and this thing is definitely not a bass powerhouse, but I knew that going in. It seems the most at home playing old Ventures records and such! I'm currently looking to experiment with tubes and ordered a pair of 12AX7 adapters, will be a little nervous about using them though. Based on Old Guy8's review, I think I'm going to go ahead and order some Soviet Voskhod Rocket 6n2p tubes for the preamp as well. I had been looking at those but wanted to be sure they would work. Open to Suggestions for replacements the EL34s, the funky rectifier tube and 12Ax7s. Again I'm a little more rock-centric.

Thanks!
Marc

If your still coming to AK. I'm late to responding, sorry. Unless your turntable has a built in phono preamp (most don't), you will need a separate one, between your TT and amp. For there isn't one built into this amp. Phono preamp needed, will depend on if you have a high or low output cartridge. Most moving magnet cartridges are high output.
If I can be of help?

Based on the reviews by Steve Guttenberg, Sean from Zero Fidelity and the discussion in here, I have gotten interested in buying a Reisong A10. Actually I was going for a Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 digital amplifier (I know, a completely different option), but the deliverance of this brand new amp has been postponed for 2-3 months. So now to try something different I got my mind tuned in to the A10, as an alternative setup, before I can get my hands on the Lyngdorf. Later it could be interesting to compare the sound from the two amplifiers.

I plan to use it in this setup:
Rega planar 3 (I'll need to buy a phono preamp)
Lyngdorf MH-2 (sattelite) on-wall speakers
XTZ 8.17 subwoofer

And here is my question for you guys:
The Lyngdorf speakers are only meant to play treble and mid-range. The woofer (which serves as a mid-range) is a tiny 5.25" and sits in a very small box/cabinet, and the speaker is meant to be paired with a sub. But the A10 doesn't have a sub-out. How can I get around this? I am willing to buy a separate power amplifier if neccessary, but how can I get the sub connected to the A10? And if this somehow is made possible, what then about not having the amp delievering bass signal to the sattelites? The Lyngdorf amp (and others I have been looking at) have an electronic crossover (bas management) so the sattelites only gets the treble and midrange signal.

Hope my entry wasn't to confusing and you have some options or solutions to help me out.

Love this great thread! You have the coolest cozy listening space there!
Tubes are magnetic, just keep pulling you in! Congrats and very happy for you it all worked out!
Cheers, Glenn

One easy way to bi-wire with the existing posts is to use a set of spades, clamped by the binding post, for one set of wires and use banana plugs into the same set of posts for the second pair of wires. I'm doing this on my Yaqin tube amp and it works perfectly and is a very clean setup.

Just run a separate parallel set of speaker wires from the A10 to the left/right high-level input binding posts on your sub. The sub high-level inputs are high impedance, so connecting them in parallel is transparent to your amp and main speakers. You can use the combination spade/banana plug approach in my prior post to wire it cleanly (e.g. clamped spade speaker wires go to the sub, banana plug speaker wires go to the main speakers).

Thanks Glenn.
And AKers have shared thier experiences with me on tube rolling in it. Right now I'm trying to pay that forward to a new AKer A10 owner on my tube experiences.
I'm no tube expert, but we all try to help each other.
Like you have helped me with a couple refinishing projects.

If your sub is active (with own internal amp), as Peter above says use high level inputs. The A10 will only have to power the satellites, I believe. Disclaimer, I have never high level wired a sub.
Or, since you have not bought the speakers yet. Maybe, investigate a pair of high efficiency speakers. Near 100db spl efficiency. Some that can produce some bass with the 6 wpc. I don't have much experience with efficient horn speakers or open baffles.
Maybe you don't have the room or budget for it. Wall mounting is a limitation to good sound from most speakers, IMO. But that may not be first goal for you. Lot of variables to getting good bass.

Do NOT leave a pure tube amp running by itself for long periods, ESPECIALLY while sleeping, or out of the house or apt.. While not a common occurrence, these amps can easily burn your dwelling down if something goes wrong.

Thanks Glenn.
