Meh...turned the page with my random musing....
Most people think the DAC in a Amazon Echo Dot can't be any good. Do you think they would put a Chit DAC in a product that helps them sell millions of monthly subscriptions to Amazon Music Unlimited. They sound somewhere between good and excellent when you output them to your main system. Pretty much limited by the quality of the MP3 source they are using for the particular song or album.
Maybe this is the hot topic to make this thread explode..

This news just sucks. I guess the discontinued Sonica DAC was the first of the dominoes to fall. Their video and audio performance has always been top notch, especially for the money. In addition to sounding better than anything I have owned thus far, my 105 has performed flawlessly since the day I bought it. Ok, maybe one or two hiccups (partly from misunderstanding how things work), but their service is unparalleled--only small companies like Oppo are able to provide this level of service. Try this with the mass-market crap out there. You don't service it, you send it to the landfill.
I would hate to see the brand disappear, but I would dislike it even more if some large corporation to take them over, cheapen the products, and kick customer service out the window (or worse, offshore it to a country whose grasp of the English language comes from a scripted page).
PS. The "ignore" feature of this works. I just used it. I have no tolerance for trolls.

I'm sorry to hear this. I recently picked up an Oppo 95 and I guess it will become an instant collector's item. That's fine so long as there are still places that can repair them.
The bad part is that I think that the Oppo system (at least mine) is prone to digital "wackiness" in the operating system and the SACD is very sensitive to drop outs on the disk. I guess this could be because of the small pit size, but my Yamaha SACD was less sensitive to this.
For example, put a disk on the tray and hit play. Sometimes the disk will insert and play, but sometimes you have to push the button to close the drawer first before it will play. No consistency to it. It sometimes does other similar wacky things.

It is never a good thing when a well respected company such as Oppo goes out of business. I bought a used 103 and have to say it is a superior product that rivals the audio quality of my Rotel 1072 CDP. I might have to snag another BR before they go out of business.

The question I have is, what is out there now that is comparable to udp 203/205?. What company has a product that has the analog outputs that I need and provides sacd DVD Audio that I still have a good collection of? As well as an excellent DAC that plays my music exceptionally?.

To the best of my knowledge, the Cambridge Audio CXU is the only other universal player with analog outputs. It is more expensive so, it may not meet your reasonable price criteria.
Edit: I was wrong, the current Cambridge Audio CXU does not have multi-channel analog audio outputs.

I've been using the Yamaha Aventage BD-A1060 since December.
Bought mine off Amazon website fromOneCall .. paid $400 ... usually sells for $500.
Not to mention an HDMI switch built in, streams from a DLNA server...great deck
I thought that the current model didn't have any analog outputs at all?

I had a 95 for a while and I also had issues with it. One time I played a DVD-A, the transport totally froze up whenever it played that disk. I had to reboot the player and it was never the same after that. It would freeze or not recognise other formats like SACD.
So I got rid while the value was still high. It was an exceptional sounding deck apart from this though - and I also loved the analog outs and the format flexibility. However yea, there were some issues with my one. Bugger having that again and no support if Oppo isnt around anymore
You are so right and I was wrong. No multi-channel outputs on the Cambridge Audio CXN.
Someone on the local FB group (where I found out about this news in the first place) mentioned the Panasonic UB9000, which looks like a viable alternative as long as you don't need the HDMI input. Don't know if it is available for purchase yet though. Maybe one of the big guys actually going after Oppo's niche was the last straw?
