I am curiuos how the "second" dream system compares to the first dream ssytem

Do you mean how the mostly vintage Pioneer system compares to my modern system? The modern system does have a bit better resolution and images better. But everyone who listens to the Pioneer system says something like "this is what music is supposed to sound like" and or "I could listen to this system forever" - in fact an audiophile friend of mine who heard it yesterday for the first time said exactly that. And that's how I feel about it too.

I just picked up a very nice PL-30LII. It was on my "dream" list, it was down the list a little, but one became available so whats a guy to do?
Unfortunatly, while the deck is a 9.5/10, the cover has been ruined with acetone or similar. I will try giving it a polish up, but I don't like the chances of it coming good.

And I do remember seeing, but couldn't find, (I tried!!) a thread where a TT cover was polished back to excellent appearance.

Thanks for the links MTF. I gave it a trial polish with some cut and wax compound, it worked so well that I did the lot. The cover still needs some finer polishing but it now acceptable. Not all was lost.:thmbsp:

Well I'm far from being filthy rich but I have managed to put together my dream system only took around 30 years.

Most of the idea was in my head since around 1984 but of course after the advent of bigger surround sound receivers, DVD, Blu Ray, plasma screens and more sophisticated gaming systems it all added to the 'bigger' dream system I had visualized so long ago.

Well there is always more to go if you want it.....

If I had the means I would have another SPEC setup this time with maybe some HPM-150's??? But in the meantime I have settled for a SA-9500II as a second setup.

But I'm happy I have been able to haggle and cobble this setup together one or two pieces at a time.

I like the Pioneer stuff I have. Just rotated it back into the main listening room.

Does anyone have or know someone who has a stacked of 50 series receivers and then beside it a stacked of 80 series receivers ? pics ?

Here is a question, Regardless of cost, what would you rather have a SX-1980 or a Black SX-1250 ?

For me the answer was easy...the 1980. I would also rather have a silver 1250 than a black one.
