Record Store Day: Black Friday 2012 releases

Cool. My girlfriend and I attended our first RSD in April 2012. It was great. I picked up the Live Ozzy LP and she got Grace Potter and the Nocturnals (I think) along with the Foo Fighters Wasting Light (not a RSD release). It's cool that they have another one in November.

if I learned anything from last years record store day it was to stay in bed and order them off ebay two days later. The value on these drops quick after the "event" so you will be able to find them for less then retail if you just wait a couple of days.

But half of the fun for me was hanging out at the record store with all the hipsters! LOL

Pretty uneventful list really. May grab the Joan Jett, just because I grabbed the other one last year. The Mayhem is limited to 1000, might be worth grabbing, as for the rest, yawn. Many, many titles are released throughout the year that are far more exciting and limited then this stuff.

:D

There's a couple titles that interest me but I'm not sure if I want to get up that early to snag 'em. We'll see how I feel after Thanksgiving din-din.

I see your rationale, but I prefer to attend the event. The whole undertaking is about supporting your local store, and in turn, its employees and customers. I enjoy RSD events at my local store.

I got to this year's RSD about an hour before opening and got a really good place in line. It really was a lot of fun BSing with others about the new releases, collections, concerts, and audio equipment. There were hipsters, jam-band phans, punks, metalheads, and for the most part, non-descript music geeks. It was fun to see similarities and differences in people's appreciation for music and approach to collecting. The shop owner stopped to chat with people in line as well.

I can shop any day on line. It is fun to go to the store for a "special' day. Often there are also other deals going on besides the RSD titles.

Which store was that Kalev?

From personal experience: The November RSD is much (much) less of an event than the April one in the Denver shops. Twist & Shout should have everything you could possibly want on that list by the time you get off work and head over (no affiliation).

I would imagine this applies throughout the rest of the country as well

Even better! I think we are heading back to Wisconsin for Thanksgiving, so I'll have to figure out which record store we will be near.

What part of WI are you heading back to? The Exclusive Co. stores are part of the network, at least the one in Appleton is. In Madison, Strictly Discs on Monroe have the deals. Those are two that I usually deal with, so had to give them a shout.

Or you could always look up the stores on the website...

I went to school in Madison, I loved Strictly Discs. That's where we went to RSD in April this year. I've also been to The Exclusive Co., but I like SD better.

I'm fairly certain we will be in Milwaukee for this event (Wauwatosa specifically, but we can drive to wherever).

Yep, I'll figure out what store is close to us and give them a call in advance.

That's the way I understand it.
