Awe... most of you are cool in your first purchases :smoke: I am embarrassed I can't say it was Ricky Lee Jones or Aretha Franklin, no my first dubious foray into music started with Boney M's Night Flight to Venus - even at 11 years of age I should have known better. Ay Caramba! Back under my rock I go.

Wow...(3) Three Dog Night "Naturall
y" LPs already. I just read that when the Beatles broke up that TDN became the leader in sales or something like that.

not sure which one was the first, but I believe it was on my tenth birthday (1983) when I got a sony walkman along with michael jackson's thriller on original cassette.
pretty sure that was my first album ever.
my first actual LP was this one:

Ramones - Ramones (180 Gram reissue)

Saw it when I was at the mall in 2005, and at the time, the Ramones were my favorite band. I didn't even have a damn turntable, I just saw this and said "Oh, that'll be cool on the wall."

Never wound up hanging it up, and it only got played once (on a friend's Crosley :nono: ) before I got my setup years later. Thankfully, sounds great to this day!

(Just got done re-sleeving all of my albums in MoFi sleeves too. This was the first one to get sleeved)

Other than songs for kids that my parents bought, my first was The Royal Guardsmen - Snoopy vs The Red Baron

Still have it :D

^^^ I just bought a copy of that. It used to play on the radio a lot when I was little.

"The Association", don't remember if it had a title. It was a mostly green, outside picture shot of the group. Had great songs including "Along comes Mary", "Windy", "Cherish".

This is a standout album despite all the other stuff going on back then.

Ok, i just looked it up, it was "the best of". It had those three songs and "Never my Love" . You can put this album up against any Tommy James and the Shondell's The Rascals, or John Sebastien. :music:

Lot's of folks remember that 1 i'm sure.

I just passed on this one at a tag sale.,Unplayable. I love collecting peanuts records. Bo Diddley! hot stuff!

First record ever as I recall (and I can't trust my memory 100%): 45 rpm single = Hanky Panky - Tommy James and the Shondells / First LP = The Mamas & The Papas first release given to me by my parents who had already turned it into a beater. My first purchase LP was: A beatles album, but I can't remember which one now...darn it!

Old stuff, my first records were 45's back in the late 60's early 70's. All my records went up in house fire though, and I haven't bought another piece of vinyl since.

I may just change that soon though, it was just so depressing to even think about replacing it after it all burned up. I'm all high bit rate digital now, few hundred gb of it.. ;)
