What is the most inovative rock LP of all time?

Black Sabbath's First! They gave us a new genre of so called rock music "Heavy Metal". Those guys took a mixture of late 60's music and solitified it into category of music that remains with us to this day. I am not a huge fan but I respect what they did.

"Fresh Cream" 1966. One of the first LPs I bought when I joined the Columbia Record Club. The first supergroup...setting the tone for a LOT to follow.

A few more from yours truly

12. Tangerine Dream - Phaedra
13. Chicago - CTA
14. Devo - Q/A
15. The Zombies - Odessey and Oracle
16. Love - I
17. Mahavishnu Orch. - The Inner Mounting Flame
18. Quicksilver Messenger Service - Happy Trails
19. The Kinks - The Village Green Preservation Society
20. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Will the Circle Be Unbroken
21. Lynyrd Synyrd - Pronounced
22. Miles Davis - Bitches Brew
23. The Four Seasons - The Genuine Imitation Life Gazette

Are their any bands left? Maybe the OP should have asked are their any bands that were not innovative.

i AM a huge fan, and yes, they really got things cooking with their sound, not necessarily "innovative" but definitely badass.

My vote goes to the Beatles...pick your album.
Machine Head rules too.

good 'un, ken! :D

A lot of years ago I read an article that stated that the Beatles were popularizers and not innovators, I believe the same could be said of Elvis, he popularized what he heard in the blacks only bars in Memphis.

Ray Charles, Modern Sounds In Country and Western Music.

It may not be Rock but it was certainly innovative.
