Show us the first record you ever owned.

Herb Alpert - Whipped Cream & Other Delights. Year was 1964.

I was 10, so of course I had no idea of the meaning of the album name nor understood the infamous cover design. My parents chose not to use my favorite record as a forum to explain the facts of life.

Great album. Gold many times over and can be found in just about every thrift store today. :D

Hand-me-down from older brother. Kind of wish I still had it...

Donovan, Colors, Catch the Wind. Great Scottish Folk :thmbsp::thmbsp:

Jon, lost in the gentle hues of time

It was a thick, yellow 78. Don't remember what was on it. Some early '60's kids novelty song?

Carefully crafted by beavers and sent through alternate dimensions.

First record

Heartbreak Hotel Elvis Presley on 78. The only Elvis record I ever bought. Wasn't a fan of his, but I loved that one song.

I believe the first album I bought was either ZZ Top Tres Hombres or Neil Diamond Hot August Night. I was all over the musical chart even then! The first 45 I bought was either Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride or the Supremes Love Child. In fact, I think I returned the Steppenwolf because it wouldn't play and exchanged it for the Supremes.

Elton John - "Honky Chateau". That's the first album I saved up my allowance to buy, bought it right when it came out in 1972. I still have it and still play it. :music:

My first record was Go Away Little Girl 45rpm by Donny Osmond,
purchased at the Turn Style Family Center in Skokie, Illinois,
sometime around 1971. I remember there was a vacuum tube tester
at the end of the records aisle.

The first i ever had, i was probably 5 or 6, my mother bought me "Rocket to Mars" at the local A&P. The sleeve had images of pushbuttons for the user to push at the appropriate time to lift your rocketship into space. Then change to side 2 and...... goes like that. :):) :) oh what fun to be that young :)

You Very FIRST Record

As I'm rearranging some of my LP's, I had a fond moment as I pulled out the first LP I ever bought. It's Joan Jett's I Love Rock'n'Roll, which I bought before I even owned a turntable. It's a great record, and I now have another, better pressing. But this little disc is what started it all.

Which got me thinking, does anyone else want to share what their first record was? I'm interested in what gets people started.

And if you still have it, show us a picture!

Anyone?

I walked to the Woolworth store & bought 2 albums for my first purchase of vinyl:

Both were James Taylor albums - Sweet Baby James, & The Original Flying Machine.

Still have them both. I enjoy Original Flying Machine more, but both are good.
