Yes, that's what he said. But, not much difference between the STR-6200F and STR-6120. I'm excited. :yes: Haven't owned an STR-6200F for 36 years. This one will get the full EW/Punker X treatment. Anyone looking for a nice tuner to match the rest of their vintage Sony gear, this may be what you are looking for. I listened to one for a while last spring and it was very nice. I'd own one again. And, even at the BIN, this one is quite attractively priced.

And, for someone wanting to get into vintage Sony's in a big way this is one fine group. I've owned the amp and the tuner and thought they were terrific. Some of my other Sonys, yes they're newer. The silver receiver posed atop the wax (my favorite wax for polishing my turntables. Yes, I'm lame.) is a STR-V750 and is surprisingly good for being an '80s piece, low-powered, and with the one thing that automatically means a receiver can't be good -- video switching. Despite that, it has provisions for MC carts with a push-button on the front to up the phono gain and direct frequency input for the tuner via the number pad. The table is the famous PS-10F Falcon; it looks like a toy but can beat out more serious tables in terms of performance. You can see the thick, brushed aluminum plate that makes up part of the plinth. The last bit is a CDP-X111ES, BOTL to the famous X777ES, but a surprisingly good player and transport capable of beating out much more expensive players.

Just got my STR-6060FW today. "Near Mint" it ain't but damn - it sounds great! Plus, I got it for $31 plus $28 shipping.
I have to admit I was skeptical of Brian's enthusiasm about this machine but it is both warm AND clear and does bass like nothing I've heard. Hooked it up to the walnut Large Advents and connected the dipole antenna taped on the wall. Dialed in KFOG and what comes on? Jimmy Hendrix! This was the best I've heard the Guitar God. Have a new respect for his bass man too.
Moved it to the den and hooked on the rooftop antenna. The FM section definitely needs alignment and I doubt that it is as selective and sensitive as the Marantz even when in tip top shape. Needs relamping too and lots of cleanup. The Pioneer SACD/CD/DVD-A player sounds great too on the earphones. I had thought that the HD555s were weak in the midrange but not with the Sony. Listening to Mavis Staples singing Stephen Foster's "Hard Times Come Again No More" brings tears to my eyes.
Now the decision point is how much money to dump into the 6060FW? An alignment and cleanup for sure. A cabinet would be highly desirable but difficult to get.
If the 6060FW is this good, the 6200 must be a step above. I do much prefer the latter's styling and the two signal meters and exposed controls - the drop-down panel is too cute for its own good. (Darn you YB2!) Maybe I should realign and cleanup the 6060FW but wait for another 6200 with a case to come on the market (hint, hint!) Easier to find is the 7065/A. How do they compare?

Here's my STR-6060FW. Still sound great although I notice a touch of static until it warms up.
Got the service manual and schematic and noticed that it is capacitively coupled with a 1000 mF electrolytic cap. That's like the Marantz 1060 amp. Still, sounds great on headphones or on loudspeakers.

I had 1 of the 6060's amp gone over and only needed some caps and a couple of resistors. This amp has the same soics as the 1 I use but the detail is better but not overpowering. My receiver with the working tuner, save the drift, is as sensitive and better than most all other receivers I have. I'll get the 6120 gone through completely and then I need to decide between the Fisher set that the 6060. Either way, I'm going to invest in getting 1 of the 6060s 100% even though the cost may exceed the resale value. They are heavily built, like a tank, well laid out, all discrete components, no ICs, PECS, LSI, etc. Nothing cramped inside and not cost restricted that I can see. Look at something like the way they did the balance control. Looks like a dual volume control but is a volume and balance with a gear driven separate balance contol. Flip down panel; hey this was not put together by the cost cutters.
Congrats on your 6060 but I tell everyone that I have not found a 6060 withiut some issues. Remember this is older than most of the units you see referenced on the vintage threads.

Just got it back from being on loanto a friend. I plan on intergrating this into my main system over the holidays. I'm really impressed with this preamp, mostly by the design and feel. All controls have a heavy positive feel, the lettering is deeply engraved. This things defines what quality construction can and should be.
