Skyfall

I've read all the bond books and think Daniel Craig is the first to try to dial it back a bit to turn Mr. Bond back into a human being who gets hurt, tired, takes time to recover, makes mistakes, has flashes of insight, you know, like a real person does.
Besides he helped the Queen skydive into the Olympic stadium.

I'll be voting with my dollars the second weekend.

I enjoyed it very much. I need to let it sit awhile before I could rank it among all the Bond films. I can say it's definitely within my top two of the post Connery era movies.

Saw it, loved it. OHMSS is still my favorite, with FRWL, Goldfinger, Casino Royale and Skyfall probably slotted into a tie for 2nd. On a good day I might toss TSWLM in with those, as the best of the over-the-top Bond films.

Though I've not yet seen Skyfall, I'd say nearly all Bond films are better than Quantum of Solace. It was a snoozer IMHO. FWIW, the Rolling Stone's film critic recently ranked it last among the 24 Bond films. I can honestly say that I don't remember a thing about it, unlike every other Bond film.

I didn't think QoS was that bad. Unremarkable, sure...but there have been some really awful Bond films.

I saw it today with my wife, and I liked it as much,if not more than Casino Royale.I would put it in my top four or five Bond films.Id have to say Die Another Day is my favorite-Halle Berry coming out of the ocean a'la Ursula Andress, the fencing battle, and that great car chase on the ice.

MUCH better than "Quantum of Solace". There was an audience -wide gasp/cheer when the original Austin Martin showed up followed by the classic Bond theme.

Skyfall holds its own

for me this is in the top 5 Bond movies, and the 2nd best Bond movie Craig has done. The Bond franchise when Brosnan was Bond was dying, then the people who were in charge of Bond saw The Bourne franchise and borrowed camera technigue and the way the action scenes were shot and Casino Royal was launched on the world. This movie for me was as good as Goldfinger and it was good to see the Astin Martin again. The ending was for me special, having never read any of the books I always felt there was something between Bond and another character and it was finaly answered. I thought the action scenes were great, the shower scene a fantasy I would love to share with a complete stranger, the opening song much better than the last one and all i have to say is "WELCOME TO SCOTLAND. :thmbsp:

It wasn't as good as Casino Royale, but better than Quantam Solice.

I agree totally. What I like about the Daniel Craig Bond movies is that they are putting thought into the franchise and building with each movie - not just creating individual movies with no thought for the franchise. I like how the Moneypenny role was created and developed.

Saw it, loved it. I liked it as much as Casino Royale (for different reasons), and Casino Royale is my favorite Bond film.

My one issue, and I seem to be completely alone on this,is that I think the character of Silva, the villain, was under developed. Only because there was such potential there...but I never really saw him as much of a threat to Bond. He had the potential to be terrifying and I merely found him to be "determined" in his quest. The character that actor played in No Country for Old Men WAS terrifying, even though you saw him a lot less.

i dunno bout this daniel craig character, especially as bond. I have to admit that he is one hell of a beautiful man, but as 007 he is about as charming a placenta.

He was a gimp in dream house, but he was MERVEILLEUX in the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

I miss Roger Moore..................:tears:

We saw it Sunday. Matinee. The place was almost sold out. I'm glad to see he still has the Omega.
My wife wants to know where he was hit by Moneypenny's shot?

Spoiler Alert

We saw it Sunday. Matinee. The place was almost sold out. I'm glad to see he still has the Omega.

Why did you have to give that away, hell it is kept a secret til the last 3 min. of the movie. :thumbsdn:

Excessive hype turns me off but I've never missed a Bond. Not since the first and I think this one will be one fine movie. The new bong is good but lacks the easy good humor of Connery and Dalton, then again the Bond in the book did not have it either. Just try to keep the gimmicks British and I'll watch ten more! God Save the Queen!

Well, it was good, but definitely not the "best"; I'll take "Goldfinger" and "Casino Royale" over it any day.
I had low expectations for "Casino Royale" and it wowwed me. I had high expectations for "Skyfall" and it left me wanting. Javier Bardem struck me as more flaky than scary too, but his entrance was very interesting. His villain in "No Country for Old Men" was magnitudes scarier, but that was a definitive performance

That being said, I'll see it again. For sure! :thmbsp:
