Sobriety, something new for me...

How did I miss this thread? 3 years sober and counting for me. You're past the hardest part which is admitting you had a problem and then having the balls to quit! The rest is a piece of cake! I never went to AA because I didn't want to be around a bunch of alcoholics. To me it kinda defeated the purpose. :D

Congratulations!!!! :thmbsp:

That's terrific news! Stick with it, and if you ever feel the need for a little boost, stop in!:thmbsp:

...we're still pulling for ya! Thanks for the update, I actually wondered how you were doing the other day. (Yes, I have no life.) Keep your stick on the ice!

Well still sober and no consideration of going back now. It's back to where I was before drinking, and I guess that I am certainly better for it. Now when I get offered a drink or a beer, it isn't even a little difficult to say no. Not to say that I can rest, but things are still moving forward. I don't know where I would be without a lot of the support I got from here. Thanks guys!

Good to hear!!!!!keep it up.I found keeping busy is key.Down time is not good @ this point.

I gotta hand it to you Mister Tawny. Thanks. Your story inspired my wife and I to give up drinking too. Today is the 59th day of booze freedom for us. You weren't the total reason we quit because it had been on our mind for a while. You did get me off my ass to finally do it, though. I was drinking way to much, way too often. The Mrs. too, felt the same way -- get paid, get blotto. Feels like we're over the really crappy part now, so we'll see how it goes.

What a great accomplishment. I quit smoking a few months ago and it has been a war. Getting better every day, but it ain't easy. The first thing I've noticed is that I actually have money in my wallet now.

Yeh, it's amazing how much free time and money you have when you quit drinking. I think hole has to be filled up pretty quick or you get the idle hands deal going. I picked up the tube Hi-Fi hobby, and now I'm busy and broke as ever.:thmbsp:

Lol, yeah. We're buying records like crazed squirrels on crack!

Anyway after a decade of hard drinking, tonight marks the 3rd night of sobriety. I tried AA and it didn't work for me. But for now I'll see if I can find the path to make it stick. Nothing earth shattering for the rest of you, but for me it's a big deal. Anyone with any advice is greatly appreciated.....

I don't drink, never have, so I can't identify with what you're going through, all I can do is offer words of encouragement, as others have.

Try putting your daily or weekly alcohol budget in a jar, then use it to buy audio equipment. Or donate it to charity.

Best wishes to you, sincerely!

Great to hear!! Congratulations the toughest part is behind you. :thmbsp:

Just a quick check in. It's now September, and still alcohol free. I am dealing with pain using the meds my doc is prescribing. Still trying to keep things going. Life is busy which helps, but I wont lie and say there have been a few nights that getting a "bent and wiggly" would have been okay. Thing is that I am not sure I could only do it once. So alcohol free I remain. If anyone needs a friend or just a kind word hit me up by PM.

Thank you so much for checking in and letting us know how you're doing, and congratulations on the progress! Keep it up! Thanks for your offer of help to anyone who needs it, but more importantly, let us know anytime you need anyone to talk to.
