Guys

What do you pay these days for a basic service or repair to equipment? It would be interesting to see.

Greater Atlanta area...

One tech I've used a couple of times charges $60/hr
There's another tech who has a couple of pieces of mine but I'm not sure his hourly rate. All I've done is drop them off for diagnosis.

Diagnosis rates would be interesting to know too!

Diagnosis rates:
Turntable $50
Reel to reel $100
Both applied to repair charges if you have him do the work.

$65 and up/hr in the Denver area...provided you can find a good tech. (I've got one, thank heaven)

Happy trails,
Larry B.

hourly which is also frequently the diagnostic fee are in the 80-90 range in the northeast. These numbers can be seen on many of the websites of those companies that offer the service.

The average local rate is about $80/h in NJ. And $120 in NYC. However, if you want some places like audio classic? That's about $200/h

Central Mass, local guy charged about $40 per hour to work on some amps I once had. Might take another to him soon. Last time I saw him, he was getting up there in age.....

I thought speakers looked much better than milk crates or cinder blocks, and it gave the speakers something to do besides loitering in the basement.
