You will easily get your money back. If you were near me I would pick them up. Too bad you don't have a spare room or basement in which to have your own system.
So bad news. There going on the market. Wife doesnt want them. There to big for her liking. She perfers some bower and wilkens or paradigm towers. Its kinda my fault since i surprised her with these.
No one can fault you because, IMHO, you have your priorities in the right order, domestic harmony, Happy wife, Happy life and all that. There'll be plenty of time for growth, bigger and better someday, and again, the monetary aspects are important.
Too bad you're so far away on the Florida coast, I'd send you some JBL L80T's I just finished with Zonker's help. But you could UShip the L300's so shipping isn't the barrier some think it is.
Although the woofers aren't right, if you fix the bases, clean up the veneer, and maybe fix the grills, you'd maximize the chance you break even or even come out a bit ahead. OTOH, if you get your money back or close to it in as-is condition, there's something to be said for getting them out of your hair and out of your wife's sight.
Jay, clean them up. Replace the bases. Think about fixing woofers with correct ones. For a little elbow grease and a small monetary investment you can probably flip them and pay for a pair of B&W's or Paradigms. Show your wife how much good L300's sell for.
Put your foot down a little bit. My wife didn't like my big speakers either. I went from a pair of big JBL's, to a pair of Altec Model 19's. She was mad, but she gets the whole rest of the house to decorate. Speakers like these just don't drop in your lap everyday.
My live in girlfriend of 5 years loves the NS-690iii in the living room on the tilt back stands. She says they tie the room together... :lmao:
In the music room we have 4430s, 4425s, and I'm about to move the big Tannoys in. She's itching to hear them.. Even with unfinished MDF cabinets. :thmbsp:
