Hi,

I got the idea of the radiation meter when I saw that the device I was going to buy in Japan was from the Sendai region...
Who wants to have a radiation source at home?

Many of these old devices from Japan have this whitish coating. I assume the cause is the humid climate in the coastal areas.
Unfortunately, the black paint is often attacked and undermined. The sloping rear wall of the C3 is made of aluminium.
The white coating is nothing more than decomposed aluminum that has come to the surface. Added to this are deposited dust and dirt.
It can be treated with polish (e.g. with fine ceramic hob polish or chrome polish). An old toothbrush does a good job in the corners. As always, test on a small area first!
Since the paint is perforated where the white aluminum oxide exits, the optics can only be improved but not completely removed.
Caution: do not polish off the printed inscriptions...

Hey,

I'm interested in the pinnacle of Pioneer's amplifier development - the Pioneer M7/M8 (I prefer the overall design of these models over TAD's M600/M700/M700S). This amplifier is currently beyond my reach, but as a Pioneer fan, I would love to experience its sound quality (the closest I can get) at home and appreciate the engineering behind it. The service manual for this amplifier is available, and I have the necessary parts. However, one crucial aspect that could greatly influence its sound is the input voltage gain stage, which is not detailed in the manual. After conducting some research, I noticed that this hybrid IC resembles an older version of C5's Super Linear Circuit. Interestingly, it differs from the input stage of M5/M6, which is also referred to as SLC but is slightly different. It also bears similarities to Sony's TA-NR1, albeit being more sophisticated. Despite having access to Sony's circuit diagram with all values and part numbers, I'm particularly interested in understanding Pioneer's approach. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me with this research, especially if someone could provide close-up photos of the input stage.

What is your opinion or experience with connecting older models (M4a to be exact) to modern 8 Ohm loudspeakers that are not really 8 but 4 Ohm or even less (minimum 3.5 or less) Will the amplifier work or will it turn off?
What speakers did you connect to with the lowest impedance?

Here is the result of my latest DIY-project:

An EXCLUSIVE 2402 replica!

The cabinets are made of 27mm-birch-plywood, the surface is enhanced with light birch veneer. Solid maple wood edging...



Inside all original TAD drivers and the TN-3 network (replica) for bi-amping. The best speakers I've ever heard! Why didn't I build these speakers years ago???

Hi All,
Hoping for some assistance. I am considering purchasing a P3 turntable. The seller says the weight section at the back is damaged. See attached picture. Seems the weight bearing section is not straight. Can't see how this could have been bent and was wondering if this could be fixed somehow by adjusting the mechanism. Any thoughts??

As far as I know, the counterweight support on the P3 (as well as the P10 and the PL-70 etc.) is rubber-mounted.

If the weight hangs down at the back, it's not a bent issue; the rubber mount has become porous or brittle due to aging. You'll have to find out whether original replacement rubbers are still available. However, such a rubber part can probably be manufactured or adapted. I'm also considering a 3D-printed solution, for example...

Yes, the EA-03 isn't suitable for practice...

Here's a picture where you can see the plastic bearing of the counterweight support. At least the small part of it that's visible on the outside.
I strongly suspect that this part is defective.

Thanks $Pioneer$ and Mark 1234. I might reach out to that person or techs in my area to see if this can be handled. I also have a PL 70Lii and the same thing is happening to it. It still functions though and must be suboptimal as it has the same issue. Thanks a lot will put of the purchase until I finalise I can fix it. Cheers!!
