CREATION REBEL
"STARSHIP AFRICA"1980
On-U Sound LP8 (2017 RSD reissue)
Early, tripped out, dub masterpiece from 1980. On-U Sound or should I say Adrian Sherwood, would go on to create a dub/techno empire. This was NME's reaction at the time...

DUB SYNDICATE
"STRIKE THE BALANCE"1989
On-U Sound LP47

Sixth album, and perhaps a little more 'polished' but no less important than the previous five. You can't maintain that intensity forever!
As On-U Sound matured, so did Dub Syndicate.

I have been on an HR kick lately. Can't get enough of his strange yet alluring music. Also seen in the pic is the two most recent Studio One collections from Soul Jazz. Studio One Groups, and Studio One Women volume 2.

I find it very difficult to listen to HR's records. But seeing you post this, I'm about to give him another shot

My favorite is Charge from 1990. Songs like Saddest Day, Selassie-Fee and Dancing Souls ... whooo

I've got the two preceding albums, I'll check out "Charge" digitally and see if I like it more than these who are now playing:

Thanks for the inspiration!

Took the time to go through most of HR's later work and I must admit it to be a lot better than the two albums I own, especially Charge. In my opinion, none of them come close to the original Bad Brains reggae songs (but that might be considered stating the obvious, right?). Anyway, thanks for 'making' me look at his later work and reconsider my opinion on him.

Man, I've got to get a copy of the Pressure Sounds reissue! The sound quality of this CD (Macola Records) is just horrible.
