Tube Socket is Wrong!

Wow, and the reason why I chose this amp is because its simple, and im sure it will sound good since it just has to amplify the sound! Thanks for the link, just ordered the right tube, pretty cool that there not expensive!

OK. So you have asked a lot of questions and got a lot of answers. You have statrted many threads. You now need to tell us what you hope to achieve, what speakers you are running, what other equipment you are using and where you hope to go or acheive in the future.
This isn't optional. You have asked for lots of info and much time from many participants.
Why do you want this not very good amp as a project?
 
I hope to achieve to build a decent quality amp. I am new a amp schematics :) Ill be running some Boston Accoustics VR3. I want to build a low-wattage pre amp... or should I go with a regular pre-amp?

I don't know why you all say that this amp is not very good, its a basic mono amplifier, that was made for Hi Fi use! There are a couple of mods to the schematics but nothing crazy! Ive made the wooden box and the PCB fits perfectly! Still got a lot of work to do...

Can I place a resistor betweem the power ground and sound signal ground to make sure that none of the power ground electrical signal cross the sound signal ?

I would just follow the schematic. You don't need resistors between grounds, all the grounds are at the same potential, ground.

It should play music, and I should be rich and good looking. Sometimes things don't quite work out as well as we hope for though.
 
Kazoo's make music but i don't like to listen to them , what your making is one step above a toy . It seams that you bought a good power & output transformer and are not using them to their full potential it's like having a nice diamond and putting it on a pot metal band . One more tube and 5 or 6 more parts and you would have a real hi fidelity amp . I understand being a minimalist but there is a reason you don't see many 3 wheel cars going down the road .

I'd build the amp in such a way so you can easily remove the transformers from it, if that turns out to be the case. Don't clip the transformer wires more than a few inches short. Don't clip any unused wires completely off, as that makes it really hard to use the windings or taps those wires connected to, later. When you get more experience with tube amps, you'll want to do mods and rebuilds.

If you want to recommended simple go ahead! That 3 wheel car is too funny ...lol :)

I was wondering about uncut wires. Do you think they will affect any part of the amp if I leave them there?
 
To the above the Oddwatt upgrade is a simple SS device for a nice sonic improvement.

Okay this is definitely worlds better and simple with no SS if you don't want that addition. Should work with your OPT's (Output Transformers & 6V6 tubes.

For a sonic improvement take out the Two 100 ohm resistors in the PS right after the rectifier tube that feeds the B+ to the output transformers. Put in a small 1-2H low DCR choke (close to 20 ohms or less) to replace the first one and just use a jumper wire where the second one went and Edcor sells nice affordable ones. You can use a 280-0-280V close to 200 mA capacity PS trans also for a lower B+ voltage also.

Actually if you copy the Eico HF-81 PS after the rectifier tube it's simple and great.

I think you didn't listen and underspecified in mA capacity for your PS transformer, but you could maybe use it for a preamp. Correct me if 'm wrong., & maybe list parts you have so we can help you.

Thanks, Ill look at these schematics, they look interesting! Nice one, yes I think the PS is 81mA per side, with a total 170mA maximum. I didn't want to go with a SE, I think a PP Mono is much better then a SE Stereo :)
 
Someone may have asked this already, but what kind of speakers are you using for the amp build? PP Mono is one amp, so you have to build two. SE Stereo is perfect if you have highly efficient speakers.

There Boston Accoustics VR3, and YES I know, 2 amps for Stereo :)
