What can you tell me about these two tables?

Wow, good site, thanks! There aren't any good TT's on sale right now locally...such a pity. So from that sheet, I see that the SL-QD2 seems like a good table? There's one for sale for $25. I know that for sure it's nowhere in the league of the 1200s, but the real question is, with a good cart, does it produce good sound? Only the best (within budget of course) will do for the Beatles!

Technics never made a 'bad' turntable. That was bread-and-butter to them for many years.

I love my SL-3200...sings sweetly with an M-91ED. I have additional headshells fitted with a Stanton 500E and some sort of Audio-Technica. Lately I've been using the Stanton to audition fresh vinyl. No complaints in any regard...darn nice TT. ($10 at a garage sale, BTW)

The Technics you mentioned are all overpriced IMO, and the SL-1900 in particular is insane. I suspect the seller has it confused with something else.

Just to give you some perspective, the SL-QD2 you mentioned for $25 is virtually identical to the SL-Q200 that this guy is asking $100 for. And yes, the QD2 with a decent stylus would sound very good. $25 is a good deal. And the AT-92ECD on ebay for $25 shipped is a decent cartridge which works well with this tt.

Never heard of the Audio Reflex model, but it appears to be another excellent product of CEC, and IMO easily worth $50. However, I'm pretty sure it's fully manual and belt drive, while the SL-QD2 is quartz direct drive and has auto-return. Contrary to the lister's write-up, it's not well-known at all in the US--maybe overseas it is:

Ah thanks hakaplan. Also, Rega's are good tables right? There's a PLANAR 1 for $250 with an Ortofon OM-5E cart on it, and a Thorens TD166 MKII for $145. Would love to hear opinions on price and overall quality.

I'd take the Thorens over the Rega in a heartbeat.

I like Regas from the P2 up, the P3 even better.

That Thorens is very nice.

The Technics SL-D2 is a good workhorse middle of the line table, worth $50-$65. If the seller has wiggle room, Consider it as a lower cost alternative.

Well that's good to hear. Finally, a good table that 2/2 are for. Anyone else to third it? If I decide to get this one, it has no stroboscope to tell whether the speed is accurate or not. And it's belt-driven. How would I check it before buying?

The P1 Rega is the entry level model. Designed for a pricepoint and there are compromises made to hit this pricepoint.

The Thorens is good. The D2 is good if you get it for the price mentioned. If exceptionally clean and near cherry, I'd even say offer up to $75.

Alright. I'll keep that in mind. I found a Numark TT 1400 in mint condition with a new Stanton cart for $100. I googled but couldn't find much reliable info. I'm guessing someone here knows something about this one?

@ Brett a: I agree, the Sanyo 1020 does look good. But how does it compare to the other models like the Technics mentioned above? I'd never heard either good or bad things about Sanyo but I don't know what to think of this table.

Even if the Sanyo is as good as the Technics (I doubt it would be better), the Technics is less money and will have a significantly higher resale value if you upgrade later. If the Sanyo was like $20 or so then you might have a decision to make.
