What did you sell that has now increased in value dramatically?

Hanleyster

ambitious but rubbish
For example:

I found a really nice set of ADS L520 speakers and sold them on ebay in 2011 for $27.

They currently sell for $250!

ARgh...:tears:

I don't sell much stuff...

but I bought (and really did not care for) some audio technia ATH-AD700 headphones

http://www.amazon.com/Technica-ATH-AD700-Open-air-Audiophile-Headphones/dp/B000CMS0XU

i got them for $99 I sold them for $90 (barely used them, kept them too long to return however)

right after I sold them audio technia discontinued them and as they have a fairly strong gaming community following the prices have taken off on the ones that are out there could have sold them for more like $150 in the like new with box / accessories condition now I bet..

oh well.

I bought a Carver Sunfire amp on eBay a few years ago and enjoyed it but resold it on eBay and nearly doubled what I paid for it.
Everything else I've flipped or churned I've lost money on. That's why when I bet on one horse you need to place your bets on any other horse in the race!

Almost everything I've ever owned but mostly my cars....63 split window vette,67 L81 vette,65 Olds 442,63 Impala SS 409,66 Chevelle SS and many many more...who new..???

My Ford Escort MK2 back in the early 90's for around £300,never imagined they'd be so sought after now.

In the summer of 2004, I bought a Marantz 2230 for $150, shipped. It had been recapped, relamped, recalibrated, and it was pristine...as perfect as new. It came in its original box with the original outer shipping box, instructions, warranty cards, catalogs, and whatnot. I needed book money the spring semester of the following year (January 2005), and it sold on eBay for $110. They're selling for easily three times that now :-/

...I also took a $500 offer on a set of Carver Amazing Loudspeakers, a bunch of Carver Amps (all boxed), and one of their tube CD players. That was really stupid of me, but I was moving...and what can you do?

oh those cars are neat...I saw one getting fixed up on Wheeler Dealers recently.

oh course if you'd have kept it you'd have had to pay insurance, maintenance, license ..etc fees for 20 some years bet it would be about a wash? if not more expesnse over 20 years?

True, looking at it like that, there wouldn't of been much financial gain if any.

Ive had most of the Marantz SS recievers over the yrs and never payed more than 100.00 all have sold for 3x4,5 what I payed for them.I payed 600.00 for a pair of AR9'speakers sold last yr for 1800.00,Same as the pioneer HPM 1500,150 up 4x what I payed. Then you have excellent vintage tube amps that sound 10x better than most SS gear that seems to be stagnant price wise lately, dynaco st70,eico 2080,both excellent sonics and hard to get 6-700 locally for them

AR 10Pi speakers rescued from the trash. Refoamed woofers, but had to replace dead mids with PE substitutes. Paid $50 for the mids, sold the speakers a year later for $35. Don't think these are highly prized, but I'm still kicking myself for selling at a loss, although not a big one. Just saw a mint pair go for $600 on the bay. Doh!

My '62 Porsche 356B Coupe. They go for at least 5X more than I sold it for in the late 80's. The Carrera 2 GS coupes go for $400k and the Cabriolets are $850k. Well at least I got a ride in a '64 4 Cam back in the 70's.

Sold a couple Lafayette/Goodmans drivers several years ago for modest coin. Probably worth more now.

My worst sale was back in 1977. I owned a black 1970 Cuda with a 383 Magnum and Hurst pistol grip four speed. It was a beast. The gas crunch came and got scared. Sold to a young man for $1100. He came back with his dad a week later and bitched about paying too much and wanted some money back!.....LOL!

Pair of JBL L220 that I bought for $1,500 and sold a couple of years later for $,1700. Then I saw two pair sell for $4K or above last summer... doh!

Thank god they've come back down to earth a little since then, but I just saw a pair no nicer than mine were listed in San Diego CL for $2,750. I could have used the extra grand!

The tube gear listed in my signature. I sold it for a quarter of what I paid for it because I was getting a divorce. :tears:
The amp and pre went to one guy and the phono amp went to another guy.

Fast forward a few years and a buddy shoots me a text "is that your tube amp and pre on craigslist?" Yup, it was. I send and email and buy it back that day!
A few months go by and I'm at that same friends house. He's waiting on someone to swing by to grab some gear. Turns out it's the guy I sold my phono stage to. It has no rejoined the family as well

I absolutely regretted selling it but had to at that point. Especially at the loss of money I took on it.

Happy it's all back.

Karma??
