I use McIntosh C37 from 1991. It is their next generation of preamps that improves on their famous preamps form the 70s and 80s. I regularly use the phono stage which is top notch, as well as use it for movies, cds, and tv in a 2 channel HT system. I've never tried Conrad Johnson and have always had a hankering to try one so I would like to swap it out for a CJ in the near future. But right now the Mac has everything I want in features and sound.
My preamps are mainly Tandberg, other than the Sony ES TA-DM1000ES preamp/controller for my house system.
I've got a 3008A in the main system, but could substitute the more purist 3018A shown here... better design, nice isolated supplies, high quality gold RCA jacks used for all I/O, etc. but I miss having bass/treble controls with this one in place.
Cary SLP-88. Pardon me to name drop a bit: This one was built and hot-rodded by Dennis Had at the factory for a dealer friend of mine. It has enormous gain and sounds absolutely huge, I had to have it after taking it home to borrow.
Currently using a Marantz 7T also have a Coda FET Preamplifier 01P that I think is pretty great. Still looking for the "perfect" SS amp to use with it. Was using it with my home brew 300B SET but had to let that go so now I'm running it with the amp section of a Marantz 1060 and have a feeling I'm not doing it justice!! Ya THINK!?!? In case you've never seen one (I don't think they're too common) here's a link to a thread right after I got it.
