Worst singers

There Are Sooooooooooo Many

There are a lot of simply awful singers, but one whose voice always went up my spine was Ethel Merman, and I will put in a vote for Yoko here too.

Michael Franks.... he might write good songs for other Jazz artists, but I just don't like his voice. Rates up there with finger nails on a chalkboard for me.

Michael Franks is one of my favorites and I have been a big fan of his going back to the early 80's. Joe Cocker was one voice I could never stand but like his music sung by others. Tastes vary - would be boring if we all agreed...

Your absolutely right. Tastes do vary! No harm or insult intended for those that do like him :thmbsp:

I didn't think Joe Cocker ever wrote any music, but just sings stuff by other people. I could be wrong though. I believe the man is a lot more popular in Germany than in the US. I like his voice - a lot! Unfortunately my wife is with you guys. I have to shut him up as soon as she walks in the house :D

Neil Young
One of my favorites
Love his music
Hate his politics
The boy just can't sing a lick!

Yoko
Slim Whitman

Rick Astley - anybody remember that grease bucket from the 80s? Not usually a guy who I spend a lot of time thinking about, but just came back from the local Goodwill where I stumbled over 3 of his tapes :yikes:

Maybe if they are still there next time I'll go, I'll buy them and throw them in the trash to take the stuff out of circulation. Could be my good dead for the day and a great service to humanity. 3 tapes would only set me back a buck!

There, I am already feeling better, since I have a plan to deal with the situation, and I'll have to see them only one more time at the worst. :smoke:

Frank

yep...this is me.....(talking in the first part)

Casey Tatum. I don't know if he's the "worst", but I love him! He's the one on the right.

The Good:

“Surprised Janis is mentioned here. She could sing the Blues. ” Jack Lord
AMEN. No one bared her soul for an audience more than Janis.

The Bad:

Michael Bolton is the Kenny G of vocals.
Donny Osmond
The Lead Singer for Heart (Oh yeah, Nancy Wilson)
Any singer who thinks they will win talent contests and entertain people making one syllable cover three octaves and last thirty seconds (or eternity, whichever comes first)
Leo Kottke's voice is not really like "Goose farts on a muggy day," but I would much rather hear his guitar.
Mike Gordon, who recently collaborated with Leo, now he has a bad voice.

AC/DC: My boys introduced me to another genre of rock: "Butt Rock" i.e. "That band's singer sucks" "Yeah, but it rocks!"

The Ugly:

Yoko
