Worst singers

The worst voice? Any voice that needs auto-tune or an electronic crutch to make sound decent--- I piss on that fake talent!

I agree. Sadly, that's most mainstream people these days. Even those who are decent usually get the treatment, just because that "perfect sound" is now expected. It sort of makes me wonder if they'll even need people once they develop robots that can sing.

Oh, and the list:

1. Vanessa Carlton (the original dying cat)
2. Avril Lavigne
3. Michelle Branch
4. Anybody else who sings through the nose (most current mainstream female artists)
5. Brendan Urie (Panic! At The Disco)
6. James Blunt (you knew he had to be here)
7. Justin Timberlake
8. Any other whiny, infantile male vocal (especially the ones who scream...ugh!)
9. Geddy Lee
10. Janis Joplin

Funny, I didn't see Peter Gabriel on here yet. Some people absolutely hate him, especially when he was in Genesis. For some strange reason, I can't quite see where those folks are coming from...:D

I had heard raves about Jim Nabors ("Gomer Pyle") so picked up a couple of his records at GW.

Unfortunately, he's no Tennessee Ernie Ford.

Almost forgot: Anita Baker. I liked her when she first emerged but soon tired of her. Same with Nora Jones.

Just so uninspired.

Oh, and Aaron Nevel. Makes me wanna jump off a bridge.

I don't consider W. Hung a 'singer'; more a novelty act (ditto Shatner, Nimoy).
I never liked John Fogerty's voice. shame cuz the music's pretty good (I've been looking for somebody to cover 'Who'll Stop the Rain' which is a great song imho).
I thought Ringo was ok. George got a bit nasal at times.
I think Michelle Branch is good (esp her work wi Santana).

Can't say I agree with the sentiment on Fogerty, and if you didn't care for his style, you probably won't have much interest, but Springsteen used to cover that song in spectacular fashion during live shows in the 80's- maybe still does.

That's her name: Michell Branch. Heard her on a Santana CD and she sounds like real talent to me. But this thread is about bad/no talent. Soooo...

AC/DC's singer, whatever his name is, grates on my senses. The most annoying voice I've ever experienced. Our local sports station (WDAE) sometimes uses AC/DC music for their intros. Man, that singer is so bad I have to change channels. I cringe and nearly drive off the road! Painful.

There are many fantastic singers on these lists. Just because a person doesn't like a particular artist's voice does not necessarily mean they are bad singers.

There are singers whose voices I don't like but none the less they are fantastically talented to be sure.

HEY! Nancy Wilson is a great singer.. I would think you're ALONE with this one.
