Your Most Valuable LP's

45rpm

Cassette Nut
So...I know many of you are big vinyl collectors (understatement of the year), but what rarities do you have?

In particular, my father has the Santana Lotus album WITH inserts...

...and the red vinyl Nazz Nazz LP on SGC!

My dad's pristine-jacket 2nd state "Yesterday & Today." The disc sounds great, but it has one long cosmetic scratch. I think it can only be heard on two revolutions.

The only two I think that might be actually worth anything are my CD-4 channel copy of The Best of The Doors (Elektra EQ-5035) and my half-speed-mastered CBS Masterworks copy of Heart's Little Queen.

Maybe.

A few that come to mind that I'm kinda proud of. Took a lot of hunting (not the MFSL so much):
Jimi Hendrix / Electric LadyLand UK (given to me, actually, Many moons ago)
Jimi Hendrix / Smash Hits w/ Poster
Soft Machine / 1 moving gears
Led Zep /III with moving cover & RL stamp
Floyd / Atom Heart Mother MFSL (was sealed when I bought it)
King Crimson / Court MFSL (was sealed when I bought it)
Moody Blues / Days of Future passed MFSL (was sealed when I bought it)
ELP/ Tarkus MFSL (still sealed, just got it)
Nancy Sinatra / Boots NM
Country Joe & The Fish / I Feel Like I'm Fixin' To Die (with poster/game)
Neil Young / Harvest Moon
other weird stuff along the way - Rascals, Animals, etc. first LP's/first pressings.

I have a few:

Annette Funicello - Annette - Buena Vista
Beatles - White Album - Apple 2nd pressing, all inserts
Eric Clapton-Slowhand - MFSL Promo
Dick Dale & His Del-Tones - Surfer's Choice - Deltone mono
Dion - Sings His Greatest Hits - Laurie mono
Emmylou Harris - Gliding Bird - Jubilee WLP
Buddy Holly - Giant -Coral
Nashville Teens - Tobacco Road - London
Pink Floyd - DSOTM -MFSL
? & the Mysterians - 96 Tears - Cameo
Diane Renay - Navy Blue - 20th Century Fox
Velvet Underground - VU & Nico - Verve (unpeeled banana cover)

I have a few of the key RCAs and Mercs:

LSC-1806, the Reiner Zarathrustra
LSC-1893, the Munch Daphne and Chloe
LSC-2553, the Shafran Arpeggione

SR90006, the Scythian Suite
SR90212, Espana
SR90262, the Dvorak 5th with Paray

They are not as valuable as they used to be, but there's a thousand bucks worth in six LPs.

And on the non-classical side, I've got a complete set of the Nic Jones LPs - not all original UK pressings unfortunately. 'Ballads and Songs' is an autographed early original.

LSC-1806, the Reiner Zarathrustra

I have the CD of that recording. It's been one of my test discs for years. In all of the Dogs I've found, that hasn't been one of them.

Is there a list of the key RCA, Columbia and Mercury classical discs online? I bought another batch of Dogs this weekend that included a few Mercurys - the first I've seen of that label.

Jethro Tull - Aqualung (DCC)
Jethro Tull - Aqualung (MFSL)
Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick (MFSL)
Pink Floyd - DSoTM (MFSL)

This is probably my most valuable LP, although it's a box set.

Oooh, that Beatles boxed set of original master recordings is right near the top of my LP "wish list"! ...but haven't found a set yet, only the smaller boxed set (not OMRs).

Probably my most valuable individual LP is an original/first Veejay "Introducing the Beatles", worth, I'm told, about $700. It is possible that I have something else worth more, because I don't know what most of my LPs are actually worth, but I think it is unlikely. In fact, the next closest LP is probably worth less than half of what that one is.

I don't know how rare it is, but my favorite collectible LP is an early (1AB and 1AC) 6 eye mono copy (CL1355) of Kind of Blue with both the label and jacket misprinted. Flamenco Sketches is listed first, but is second on the actual pressing with All Blues first. Also, Cannonball's name is misspelled Adderly on the jacket.

I don't know how valuable it is but I have a copy of Fleetwood Mac's Bare Trees where side 2 has a Do Ho Live label instead of the Fleetwood Mac label.

I suspect many of us would be surprised at what in our collections are worth what.

I'm guessing my copy of Striesands' 'My name is Barbra'. :)

That's for sure. Besides, like anything else value is perceived. If we're talking about value being money, it's like stock. It's not worth anything unitil you sell it.

Well, I know one thing for sure, my copy of Pink Floyd's Relics that was found in a crawl space, water damaged and mud on the cover, is worth more to me than any MINT Barbara Streisand albums I have.

I have a virtually mint early pressing of Kinky Friedman's Sold American, on Vanguard. Would that be worth anything?
