I guess there are those ancillary savings when you remove humans. Plus, robots can work 24/7/365, if need be. No health or retirement benefits needed.

In that post I think he's making a strawman argument rather than fortune telling. But it's a quibble. I'm not going to go back and look at other posts. I agree that there's a lot of fortune telling, on both sides of the issue, going on here.
What I was responding to more is that the workers referred to in that post (autoworkers, steelworkers rubber workers, electronics workers) have all previously been impacted, even before AI arrived. But you're right that the post you quoted is speculating further impacts on those same workers.

Collecting data to analyse human task behaviour. Training robots to step into doing everyday tasks. I see the goal not being to sell robots themselves, maybe initally but eventually to hire robots as ersatz workers in place of humans. Robots earning money for their owners. Restricted ownership eventually so that the new industry can be monopolised.

Yes. There's no doubt in my mind that robotics and CAD have improved construction quality even though Engineers have designed in lots of intentional early failure mechanisms i.e. plastic water pumps, wet belts, buried components. AI can iterate thousands of design ideas in minutes. That is way beyond what any engineer can do.
