We lost our little boy Peanut today.
he was 14 1/2 years old. he has had
diabetes for about a year and finally
damaged some of his organs.
we will really miss him.

Awfully sorry to hear of this one of our cats is diabetic and instead of once a day shots we give her once a liquid stuff via dropper.. .not fun but better than a shot I would surmise...going on 2 years and her last months blood work came back good so fingers crossed...

Very sorry to hear - disease is awful! I'm sure he was well loved and that you gave him a wonderful life. It's always much too soon - keep him with you in your memories.

Things have been rather busy in the rescue with kittens & more kittens. The cat room has expanded so much that we had to make the office into a "quiet" cat room while I take care of the rebels and hisspots. Five of the siamese kittens went to another foster while the two cartoon kittens are in a separate pen for twice daily medications leaving us with a half dozen bottle babies and brown tabbies... yeah can't have enough of those right?

I must confess to being very angry this evening. A cold hearted someone threw several kittens out the window of their vehicle and only one survived the trauma with a broken leg. I don't know how long it was until he was actually found but long enough for gangrene to set in however we didn't know that yet. I took him to the vet last friday and little more than an assessment was done and he spent the weekend playing footsie with another kitten never appearing to be in pain. Back again this morning it was determined he was urgent and needed the leg amputated so the better part of the afternoon was spent finding a good vet to do this and after hours at that. Everything was successful however when he was getting ready to close things up he noticed a black streak in a vein and it turned out the gangrene had began to spread most likely before his arrival so the difficult choice was made and I don't have to spell that out. A little Maine Coon that I don't think was 6 weeks old that never had a chance, this is the reason I get out of bed at 0600 to make the hour drive down to the vet clinic... because I want to.

On a brighter note we are giving away all of our partial bags of dry food basically leaving it all out front for the trailer park kids who want to feed the numerous cats. Bless them all.

Reason 12,386 for why I hate people. I pray karma comes hard for whatever absolute scumbag threw those kittens out. That's absolutely heartbreaking - RIP, little ones.

If I were to articulate my thoughts, it would not be pretty - suffice it to say that.

The Peanut- Sorry. My little Buddy who had diabetes had it under control (because I am diabetic and treated him differently than the Vet plan) but CKD finally got him, as the treatment for that is basically the opposite as for diabetes. The diabetes was the primary concern. He lived with it for years.
