Could not agree with your description of the environment up here. True Story; About 3 years ago, I had an accident on my bike that was pretty traumatic. Broken pelvis and a dark purple bruise from the nipple line on my left side down to my knee. We'd only been here maybe a year and although we'd met most of our new neighbors, we really didn't know anyone. Anyway, the EMTs scraped me up off the pavement for trip to the local ER. 'Course they called my wife, who BTW, is wheelchair bound with a neuromuscular disease. Not a good situation for obvious reasons. All it took was Judy asking our across the street neighbor, Sherry, if she knew of a handicapped taxi service. Sherry asked why and when Judy told her, she packed up Judy and her chair up in her SUV and drove her over to the ER to see me. By that same evening, Sherry had mobilized the whole neighborhood. They brought her food, did grocery shopping for her, and just generally saw to it that she got all the support she needed. When I was released from the hospital, Sharon, the neighbor to our immediate south brough over wound care supplies her husband had left over from an injury he suffered a while back. Whenever I had a doctor's appointment or needed to pick up prescriptions, someone was always there to ferry me around. People with whom we had shared little more than a smile and an exchange of pleasantries took us in like family.
So I'll gladly accept the dearth of things audio to live in a community like that.
