The HFE summary is incorrect. If you go to the manual, the amp is 125 wpc w/4 channels driven, 125 wpc X 2 + 300 wpc (three channel mode) and 300 wpc X 2 (two channel/stereo mode)--and yes it is a 1986 model.

GAS500 Ampzilla at 256wpch qualifies as does the HK Citation XX also at 250. As do the LSR&D Superamp monos. By qualifies, I mean as per the op.
Altec 9440A deserves to be mentioned here, way ahead of it's time.

Well, out of the 200wpc ones already mentioned, I currently have the following:
2x Sony TAN77es (200+200)
Luxman M-03 which is the metered version of the unit already mentioned (200+200)
and a
Denon POA-2800 (200+200)
The Luxman is the best* sounding, by a slight margin, but I don't use it much as it is gold and doesn't match the Sony ES gear I love.
The 2 big Sonys are sometimes run in BTL just for fun, but generally one is used. That yields a measured output of over 600wpc at 8 ohms and over a kilowatt at 4 ohms at the onset of my dummy loads boiling the water I had them sitting in. Silly stuff.
I can confirm all the TAN77es sound identical (I've had three) and the TAN80es sounds a touch better in the bottom end- due to the massive increase in supply capacitance (double that of the TAN77es). Considering it has 88,000uF on the main rails and the TAN77es has 'only' 44,000uF.
They also filled the VA cap filtering on the 80es to over 28,000uF, up from 'only' 18,800uF on the TAN77es.
The Denon POA-2800 comes in last.
*best meaning the nicest to listen to.
In the storeroom, there's a pile of other power amps including a Perreaux 2150b (1982/3) which really didn't sound much good at all.

I really wanted a Dynaco 400 back when I was a kid, ... still would buy a nice one just for nostalgia.

I would like to nominate the Pioneer Spec 2 amp, at 250 watts per channel and last year of production was 1980, so I believe it qualifies.

Yeah as an owner of a AA-1800 I can attest to it being a fine powerful amp. The 2 thin power cords are confusing till you read what the deal is.
Almost landed a 9440a and then didn't happen. Oh well. Have more than enough amps for a lifetime.

Hey this thread has given attention and interest to crown pro amps. No reason QSC shouldn't get some love.
I own one of the praised units from back in the day. The MX1500A. It's a real beast. 350 per at 8ohms. 500 per at 4ohms. 1000 mono at 8ohms 1200 mono at 4ohms. Another rail switcher amp.
It's often been written about for its wonderful sound and home use.
It certainly could use a blast from an air compressor inside especially given its 2 unit height and it's not a chamber style cooling. So dust can collect easily if not regularly cleaned. But it's a rear fan and not very loud.
Great amp. And from the glory made in the USA days.
Add A&B, ashly , crest so on. USA made musical muscle machines.

I have 2 pairs of the model 102 and 2 model 101 stereo versions. I also have 2 v-4 diy stereo amps. I was in the process of accumulating gear for a JBL active project that I now may never complete since I've discovered my Acoustat Monitor 3 with the direct drive servo charge OTL monos.
I have emailed him, no response yet. The Eagle is up and running, the regulator of one channel had let the magic smoke out. Rebuilt the regulator and now just need to figure out the 8 alignments on each channel. I think I know what each of the alignments do but have no numbers to shoot for. The distortion levels are a bit different between the channels and both are a bit high so I hope a good alignment will take care of that.
Also the Eagle turns out to be a 300 WPC amp, I thought it was 200 WPC. Removing the 80V regulators will bump the voltage up and produce over 400 WPC.

Do you know if anyone / place is offering diy circuit boards for some of the designs? I know there's a following there. Just wondering if like pass designs there was a source for boards for folks to build their own amps?
There's some neat write ups with pics on circuitzone and buildaudioamps.
I like how much like most pass designs the leach amps are a relative minimalist approach.
You should post some pics if you haven't already here on ak

If you cruise the solid state forum, there are numerous diy projects for which boards and components are available. also check out the Store. My Luxman M117 is excellent would like to own a M03. I tend to prefer it over my M91 or PA7.
