Favorite Bourbon

A benefit of being neighbors with Kentucky :)

Not really. It results from the fact that all hard liquor in Virginia is sold in state-owned stores where price gouging doesn't occur. On the secondary market, however, exorbitant pricing exists there too. Interviews with people waiting overnight in Virginia for these highly-allocated whiskies showed that a number of people bought them for resale.

Not much more in NC. Even cheaper than NC in SC. NC is state owned and SC is independently owned. Hell Fla. is cheaper that both NC and SC. Its indy owned in Fla. But they allow store advertising. The Sunday paper there has a whole section of pull out booze adds.

The biggest determinant in hard liquor costs on the primary market, in the US at any rate, is the state taxes. Liquor is pretty expensive in WA. We have the highest liquor taxes in the country.

Exactly. When I was in Louisville a few years back and visited a Liquor Barn with a really good bourbon selection, I was surprised to find out that I could find most bourbons cheaper at home in Maryland than in Kentucky. The only real issue was the availability of some smaller boutique labels and items highly allocated here (e.g., most Buffalo Trace products in the past couple years).

Just tried a new one, I like this a lot. While not well-versed in all the superlative descriptive terms ("hints of leather, tobacco, old jockstraps," whatever), I know what I like, and I like what I know....this is smooth, tasty, and has absolutely the most delicious aroma of any bourbon that I have experienced. Good ****, recommended....

Try their single barrel….

Eagle Rare my friends...it's a sleeper. Less money than Woodford or Baker's and a lot nicer IMHO

100% agree I have tasted lots and lots of bourbons given living in Kentucky it kinda a thing here lol. But Eagle Rare is wonderful&my fav! is typically priced around $40-$60 depending on the stores up sales lol

I also really enjoy the Isaac Bowman Port and Angel's Envy Port finished offerings and have repurchased each quite a few times. A new one I was gifted is from Thomas S. Moore (Barton 1792 Distillery). After the first couple pours, I see this being added to the Port finish rotation list.

Hopefully they don't start gouging that much around here for ER.
