Not having to dial an area code to reach anyone I knew.
Turning on the TV in the middle of the night and seeing nothing but snow on all channels.
It was an upgrade to have an AM radio in your car. You were a big shot if you had an AM/FM model.
Pumping the gas pedal a couple of times before starting the car.
Going to the store to as a kid to buy cigarettes for my Dad, and not getting questioned for it.
Radial tires on your car was an option. Bias-ply were standard.
Full service gas stations.
Free maps at gas stations.
Kresges, Woolworth's JC Penney, Sears and Monkey Ward were all located downtown.
Ordering items from a JC Penney or Sears catalog by phone, then picking up the items at the store via the catalog desk.

I remember getting a 9 inch black & white tv for my birthday, (about 40 yrs ago) for my bedroom and I thought, "Life can't get any better than this".

All the nurses' hats were specific to which nursing school they graduated from. I remember my mother stocking up on the proper Lincoln General hat when we'd be back in Nebraska visiting relatives.

I watched a lot of TV as a child.
