You are the one who brought up Facebook with a "holier than thou" attitude. The subject became fair game. I like some forms of social media, just not Facebook.

The counter to the latter would make a funny premise for a comedy skit. You can have the character be some obnoxious "vintage is the only truth" audiophile that carries around a turntable-amp-small speaker combo with him whenever he is doing daily activities wherein one would use an iPod (going to the gym, waking the dog, commuting on the bus to work, etc.). As the skit progresses, he gets more and more frustrated, and the people he encounters during his routine continuously get annoyed with him.

If I remember correctly, I think there was a similar, semi-recurring "vintage-is-king" asshole character on Mr. Show. I could see them doing it on Portlandia as well.

ROFL I may have a turntable for you... It is the Ion Vertical Wall-Mounted turntable, battery operated. I imagine it could be strapped somehow to one's body and if you ran very slowly, (barely walk) it might work

Although it would still not be as light as an iPod

I have a 160g Classic. Best thing for in the car. I can bring all the music I ever want in a package the size of a deck of cards. I'd be hauling a big box of CDs to get that done. I'm rather odd in that my entire music collection is either LP or digital on my ipod. No tapes, and I don't even own a CD player besides whats in the cars.

The 160g classic in my car has 15 second silent pauses, has to be cold booted/reset about 3 times a week, and can't seem to even roughly approximate random mode.

Yep - and I got tubes on my JBLs fed by airtunes from a big old MacPro
and we control it with the wife's ipad or my iPhone ...
its a nice mix of old and new tech and works great, nyah nyah!

Hm, thats annoying. I wouldn't be pleased with mine if it did that, but it actually works quite well. Maybe the random function could be better but its adequate. I won't make claims that its the last word in high quality audio sources, but it sounds good enough and beats the pants off sat radio as far as sound quality goes.

I have an iPod nano (one of the originals) in my desk drawer, but I don't remember buying it or ever using it - so I am not sure it is actually mine. (maybe left behind by my daughter when she moved out)

I have an iPod Touch that has no music on it, but is loaded with really cool games. Haven't used it in about a year. The charger is downstairs and I used to use it upstairs to give me something to do during commercials. The reason why I don't use it is when I see it in the charger, I take it upstairs. A few days later I will see it and go "Hey, there's my Ipod. I think I'll play a game". Of course the battery has died from sitting there for two days doing nothing. It sits there for a week or two until I take it down stairs again to charge it. Been doing this for over a year now. Have to keep doing this because it was a gift.

Also have an HP tablet with all my digital music on it. Can't remember where I put it. Haven't tried very hard to find it because of course the battery will be dead when I find it, so I have to look for it the day before I actually want to use it so it can charge first. I am not sure I need or want to use it tommorrow, so I probably won't look for it tonight.

Then there is my iPod shuffle. Love this thing. I use it every day at the gym for close to an hour and only have to charge it every couple weeks. Not the best sound in the world, but better than the crap they play at the gym. I also use it when I fly to block out the background noise. (other people on the plane) An important thing I learned while using the iPod shuffle on a roundtrip from BWI to southern Mexico - you definately need more than Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti to get through 12 hours in a plane. (was loading music for my trip and got side-tracked before I finished)
