Thanks for the heads up Mr. B. I'm sure I can find someone in my neck of the woods that can do it, I just haven't persued it, to busy driving it every season. I did pick up another carb off a 66 Canadian Pontiac that I may try out at some point this year, it may not be as worn out as my original so it may be a good candidate for a carb kit, I haven't really had a close look at it yet but it did come off a running car so there's hope for it.

Yeah, a good machine shop can prolly do the work. Oil-impregnated, sintered bronze is the way to go.

Here's a side shot I took on a drive thru the local countryside because how many times do you see a hot rod in front of a field of alpacas. They didn't spit at me.

Btw, this is with M&H drag radials on back which are only 28" tall so while they do hook up I think the car looks better with a 30" tall tire which I have on it now.

That's about as American Graffiti as you can get.

This wasn't that special, back when it was new- but to find one in this condition, all original, 25 years later:



It's a one-year combination of features- the last year of the V6 engine in this body style, and the first year for the teal green color.

I bought it from the original owners- the father bought it at the dealership where his son was a master Nissan mechanic. It even came with a car cover. Synthetic oil from day one. It had 156K on it when I bought it- I'm up to about 161K now. It didn't have the camper shell when I bought it- this picture is from the day where that was installed. As I mentioned in an earlier thread somewhere here- I actually found the camper shell at a local shop, already painted in the correct paint color!

Other than the camper shell, the only changes I have made to it, are to add a cupholder (they never had one originally) between the center console and the shifter (I found a little dual-cupholder on eBay for a whopping $12- that just fits PERFECTLY in the space) and to completely replace the audio system. It now has an Alpine CD player with USB and Bluetooth, a pair of vintage MB Quart 6.5" midbass drivers in the doors, a pair of Dayton titanium dome tweeters on the A-pillars (with custom crossovers that I built and tuned), and an Alpine power amp running a small bandpass box sub behind the seat, using a vintage Orion XTR6.5 woofer. It's not that loud- but it is very pleasing to hear- the interesting thing, is the longer I am in the truck on any given day, the better it seems to sound...

My dad's older brother had a '63 Ranchero, nothing like that, though. I remember that the paint (robins egg blue?) actually dissolved under the gas filler, due to fuel spills over the years when gassing up. 144 and a 3-speed. 0-60 times could best be described as "someday".

A 302 should make it flat out motivate, though!

Is that a 1968? My buddy in high school... .his dad bought one of those brand new. On the rare occasions he let us use it, we'd come to a stop, then just tromp the go pedal................ causing prodigious clouds of smoke to roll off the front tires.

It's a 10 with the 4.6 and not 4wd. I wonder how people afford this gas mileage ?

I needed a truck asap, prices have gotten crazy on used trucks under 150k miles. This one showed up at a dealership and I went right when they called and bought it.
