I like rosewood a lot here. I faced off my JBL econowaves and trimmed out the Maggie console amp pictured at bottom center with some nice Santos rosewood veneer (excise the mess; sorting through some amps and LPs here..)

You sure? The brochure over on VE for the QL-Y7 says:

Yes, I have a QL-Y7 that I have re-veneered in teak and I also did a QL-Y5 in ebony. That required removing the existing veneer. It's a laminate similar to Melamine or Formica.

A have also done my current set of speakers in Brazilian rosewood (santos) and I did a Pioneer PL-570 in Brazilian rosewood as well. Real Brazilian rosewood looks much different than the JVC veneer.

Nice tonearm too - I'm another owner.:thmbsp: I just wish I could find one of the s-shaped tonearm pipes they seem to have over in Japan - I have two straight ones. One reason why nobody knows about them is that they sold very few around the world. They were very expensive when new - about double the price of a Technics SL-1200 MkII here in Australia in the 80's, and 25% more than an SL-1300 MkII, for instance.

The Sansui XP-99 has the same or similar feature.

Unfortunately both the Sansui XP-99 and the Sansui XR-Q9 a are piano black.
