MC240 off to Terry

Very nice! Is Terry sending you these pics as your amp is sitting on his bench?
You think we will see images of the resistor side of the board? And what kind of new coupling caps are that? Orange Drops 715p?

In case someone is wondering, the resistor in the bias supply is 470R 5% (yellow, violet, brown, gold), as per http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showpost.php?p=275837&postcount=34 and http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showpost.php?p=278097&postcount=36 and compensates for the smaller voltage drop of the silicone diode as compared to the old selenium diode.

Thanks for posting the pictures of Terry's progress on your Mc240.At this rate,you will be unpacking and setting it up pretty soon.What a transformation from the way it looked when you first found it!

Terry has been very gratious in taking the time to send updates on the progress along with pictures. He is very methodical checking the amps functionality first. He verifies voltages to spec along the way and burns the amp in. This is no "shotgun" approach. He updates sections at a time and replaces what needs replacing, be it for part failure, probable future failure and or better acousics. This is a man who knows audio both electronically and sonically. Then he would have to be, as I don't let just anyone work on my gear, besides me.

I treat it like a hobby that I enjoy, each step gets a few minutes of listening time to verify the changes. Now comes some burn in time, then a full check out for power and distortion, if it behaves it will be sent home in it's cool packing box.
Capacitors are Nichicon QX series.

I can use that foam for all kinds of things. Finding just peanuts tends to be difficult.

It's something that the resistors were all still up to spec.It speaks to the fact that McIntosh used first rate components.

The factory feet are still there. The amp is sitting on some "pucks" I repurposed.
