I know that. Everybody knows that. But using higher octane will indirectly make more HP by allowing you to run more compression and timing.

Trust me, in order to run 36 degrees of advance, in by 2700 RPM, plus another 12-14 degrees of vacuum advance in an engine with 10.5:1 compression, 100 octane isn't overkill at all, let alone nonsense.
