Excuse the cat fur, it's heading for the washing machine.
I wore the shirt on a recent water system service call and it sparked a hi-fi related conversation with my client, I told him the story about my 2238B and he later told me that our conversation motivated him to dig his early 70's Marantz out of the attic to see if it works.

Just added a 6100 to my 2020B. Just got it set up, still need to clean it well, add damping oil to the cue lift, and replace the belt (on order). Also out a good cartridge in the Marantz headshell and get it aligned. It came with the 45 adapter to set the cartridge but I need to read up on how to use it. So far I am quite pleased. Cosmetically it looks great and everything works and is complete, even including the hard to find antiskate weight.

Marantz 5420 cassette deck and mixer. Still need cables to hook it up and cassettes to test but cosmetically it looks great and the seller claims that he used it daily. Took off the cassette cover to look at the heads and they look very clean. I didn’t really need it as I have a TEAC A-6300 next to it but am sort of on a Marantz kick at the moment as you can see from my posts. I now have a 2020B receiver in almost mint condition, a 6100 turntable that I just got snd still need to clean up and put on a new belt but it plays beautifully, and this 5420 deck. I wanted a 5220 to match the receiver but they cost more than I wanted to spend.

So, cassette decks are gaining in value in these days, the "cult" ones are getting overpriced to the almoast insane values of SD "compudecks". Guess they are going turntable path.
But the customer is always right, right? And vintage media has not said its last word.

I got some new blank tapes and recorded a couple of albums. All functions that I have tried seem to work well; I probably won’t use the external tape and mixer functions. At first I bought a few used prerecorded tapes and that didn’t work out well. Only 1 of the 3 tapes played and the others stalled and had dropouts. Think I’ll stick with new tapes and keep them well.

This one was pretty rough. Absolutely filthy. It needed wiring repairs, motor service, main bearing service, a new spark cap, new belt and the dust cover and hinges were missing.
At least the original headshell, mat, 45 rpm adapter and anti-skate weight were still there.
The dust cover and hinges are actually from a Pioneer PL-516.

I was digging around in the closet in my office and pulled out my old Marantz 2100 tuner (with wood case). Years ago I had put in LEDs but haven't used it in at least seven years. I plugged it and turned it on last night and let it sit all night to reform the capacitors. For a very plain three gang tuner it sounds really good- nice channel separation, wide /deep sound stage and just that old SWEET Marantz sound.
