He is in Vermont. I know this is among the most difficult pieces to work on. Be very careful having it worked on. Sal has done several and he is doing his right now. He has done around 60+ Marantz restorations for me so I speak with great confidence regarding his ability.
Thank you, I will be very careful. Last thing I want is an 83lb paperweight. I have a highly recommended tech I've used in the past as well but he moved 6 hours away. With this piece however, if the locals aren't up to the task I have no qualms doing a road trip!

Bennington, Vermont is his exact location. I know this is one of the most involved and costly units to repair/restore. You may want to contact him and discuss what your looking to do and the cost compared to your other source. I find him to be very reasonable compared to other techs I have units and more knowledgeable. good luck!!!

Hello. Last week I found a Marantz CD6006 with bad laser on a Dutch secondhandwebsite. On the internet, I found a service manual of the CD-player. In this manual there was a section "troubleshooting" and to my pleasant surprise, it also contains automatic adjustment of the laser in the service mode. Well, that did the trick. Player is fine now.

I was fortunate enough to sell all of the cool Marantz stuff, when it was brand new in the late 70's through the mid 80's. I rode the conversion from analog to digital. I sold Marantz, Pioneer, Technics, JBL, Akai, Teac, etc. for 10+ years. It was the best time for music and audio, (in my opinion). I am now starting to put together my old systems, that I had sold to all of my friends, when the newest one came out that I just had to have.
Currently 25th Anniversary items from 1978:

Hey Massa, great equipment and you have a Bronco on the wall! Big weekend for the hockey team!
You might have been at some of the stores us kids used to go to, there were two downtown, the computer/stereo showroom on West Main and the one that turned into a steak/strip club. We used to spend all day Saturday hitting those, and a few other stores, just checking out all the cool equipment with the silly money price tags.

Yes, it's a big weekend for sure!! Hopefully we will be celebrating. I worked in the Sound Rom at Highland Appliance in Grand Rapids selling all this equipment, then transferred to Kalamazoo store while I was at WMU. And sorry to say I never made it to Gentlemans Lunch at the steak/strip club. LOL

My equipment: 250M Amp and 3200 Pre-Amp (1976). Just installed the custom walnut cabinets a few days ago.
Also pictured: AKAI 4000DS MkII, Philips 877 TT with AT-VM95ML, Pioneer H-R99, Bose 901 Series IV. All cir. 1976ish.
The CD player, a S.M.S.L PL-100, is the only modern piece (except for the fancy $9.00 lighting).
Say what you want about Bose 901s especially the Series 3 & 4, but I get quite a beautiful sound experience with this setup...

Nicely done! Those are exactly what I'm listening to right now. Mine are in the same condition... rare enough to find, even rarer in that condition.
