Random Thoughts or Whatever

Way back in the early 80's, my biddies and I used to play the bar game called "lets get drunk and be SOMEBODY"... pretending to be an Air Force fighter pilot worked quite well!!
There was this dude that we had to stop inviting to parties. He was a really nice guy, very shy when sober. But when he drank — he'd overdrink — and became the Hulk!

Wanted to start fights, he'd break things around the apartment — scared all the females to the point they'd leave.

At his last invite, he started running headfirst into the wall. Before anyone could stop him, he actually broke the drywall, got his head stuck, and knocked himself out. Yes, we had to call 911. The apartment manager was not pleased. It's kinda amazing I didn't get kicked out of that unit.

My girlfriend at the time was not happy about that repair bill. :(

Ever notice that there are some oddball topics (especially at work) that can elicit the craziest arguments? Beyond the usual verboten topics, like politics, religion, gun rights, and how to raise your kids.

The other day, it was, "Who has the best Thai food?" I haven't seen so much yelling, waving phones as Google proof, and "You are so ignorant!" "No, you are more ignorant!"

You sit back and wonder where all that anger came from.

Random thought this day:

I wonder how many will be getting hitched (married) based on some AI program/platform in the next while.

And if you've done such already:rolleyes:...how about a share, eh?

Q
From what I gather from those single dudes at work... Dating apps = AI hog heaven.

"What you see is not what you get."

Years ago when reading the Russians - Tolstoy and such - I was amazed, and impressed by the dating/mating rituals and customs of Imperial Russia. The formality and process in the upper classes was well, impressive. That was almost 300 years ago. Just as a mental object I found it to be so impressive that in such times, the cultural traditions were so well organized, and agreeable to the population. I'm not very convinced that the replacement "willy-nilly" is progress. Just a random thought.

Well Mr. B , , , , it didn't come from Thai food, of that I'm certain...... ;)

When people will literally fight to the death over such a mundane topic, there are underlying deep rooted resentments at the core of such blowouts.

We're talking people who have been hating on each other silently, sometimes for years till the anger finally boils over.

Yeah, you're right. These "topics" are just excuses to go off the deep end. Hair-trigger tempers.

It makes you have to be so careful bringing up any random topic. As the consequences can be emotionally draining for everyone.

:(

That's interesting by itself. How can that be?

I FIRMLY recall in my 7th grade Weekly Reader, being told that in the near future, men would only have to work 10 or 20 hours a week, because technical progress was going to create massive amounts of "leisure time."
Sadly, your 7th Grade Reader was wrong. Today, there are bosses who want you to work 168 hours a week. AND be available when you are off!

Real Life Example

I have been building some speakers. The other day, I posted one on "DIY Loudspeakers" group on FB. I think the title was "This is the MONO speaker I just built."
OMG, the foul responses I got knocked me off my feet. Guys calling me a dumbass, guys asking, "Gee, why do you think we have TWO ears?" and so on. I mean, I wasn't telling anyone THEY should listen in MONO. It was insane for a couple days - over a speaker!

Yeah... the term "Let's Keep Things in Perspective" seems to have flown out the window, at the speed of light, on some of these (un-)social media sites.
