Random Thoughts or Whatever

AND be available when you are off!
Yup. In 2001 I took a position at a high tech PR firm. About two months into it, I walked in one Monday morning, and my boss jumped me: "I left you THREE voice mails yesterday! How come you didn't answer me?" On a Sunday? With no previous hint or expectation that I would be getting called? With no word on Friday like, "Hey, I might need to talk to you on the weekend." I replied to her that, "I would not even THINK to check my voice mail on a Sunday - and I didn't." She didn't like the answer.

Yeah, you're right. These "topics" are just excuses to go off the deep end. Hair-trigger tempers.

It makes you have to be so careful bringing up any random topic. As the consequences can be emotionally draining for everyone.

:(
A growing number of people (often younger people) are very thin skinned. Not only are they easily offended, they'll get offended on someone's else behalf. On behalf of a person who isn't/wasn't offended, no less. I'm not talking about racism or sexism here. Much more innocuous stuff. These people often seem miserable to boot. Remember "sticks and stones..."? Let's bring that mentality back, people!
:beerchug:

Ah, the wonderful, ever-expanding political correctness of today.

A guy at work was dating this hotsy-totsy, but kinda insecure female. She texted him, but he didn't respond immediately.

Next thing, she's calling him. "Why didn't you answer! There's another woman, isn't there! I knew it!"

Everyone had to listen to him grovel and beg for forgiveness.

Cell phones and text messaging...

I call them the "Flying Monkeys" for the Wicked Witch of the West.

Yup! To be happy like one, you gotta root like one!

The steering parts may need some work, but she will get you to job site on time.

Both cases have something in common

The curse of Jadis upon the land where it is always winter but never Christmas.
Yeah, it is dreary to endure.

Like someone posts, "Is it okay to use an oil filter I bought from AutoZone, or should I buy one from the dealer?"

That devolves into 1.) "Change that oil filter immediately, or your car will blow up!"

or 2.) "Dealerships are out to suck every drop of blood from you! Don't get within 5 miles of their parts department!"

50 posts. 25 hysterically supporting #1, 25 supporting #2.

Leaving the original poster completely dazed and confused.

No golden mean. Two sides that meet at one point, a point having no dimension. That ought to make things perfectly clear. In the mean time, the question indicates concern about suitability so buy one from the dealer and be done with it.

Real Life Example

I have been building some speakers. ...It was insane for a couple days - over a speaker!

With the "Cyber Stage" so available today, it takes little for some to want to get on their personal soapbox, proclaiming how much they know. But, little do they know they are just exposing their ignorance, and removing all doubt of it!

Then there's the "cloak" of being unknown, and this adds to the mental fracas. :bigok:

Q

There's a lesson here. "simple" action can be costly all around.

Why do some people take it upon themselves to do these kinds of things?

Texting the owner isn't good enough?
